I don’t usually share a single photo of a single jar.

This morning as I packed this jar for shipping, I was struck by how elegant one single jar of White Freeze Dried Edible Cornflowers can be.

I popped it on my photo stand, quickly snapped this shot on my phone and continued packing it up.

It wouldn’t do these beautiful petals justice to have anything else in the photo.

This is purity, timeless and elegance all in one jar.

Why are our freeze dried cornflower petals so stunning?

Mum and I handpick all our blooms at the exact moment in time when they are their biggest and fullest. Then our freeze driers capture them in that exact moment.

Which means that the petals are fluffy and full-sized, not shrivelled up.

Contrast this with other suppliers who air dry their coneflowers and rely on other people to harvest them. The petals are shrivelled up to little fragments the size of fennel seeds because the dehydration process compresses the flowers to almost nothing.

That is why Mum and I switched our entire farm from dehydrating to freeze drying 18 years ago - and in doing so became the first farm in the southern hemisphere to freeze dry flowers and petals.

Another family birthday… another cake by yours truly!

Can you believe that all the flowers I used here are Freeze Dried AND Edible AND Organic?!?!

I baked and decorated this cake the day before our party and the freeze dried blooms were still looking amazing in the fridge a week later on the remaining cake (even though we recommend keeping the flowers in your pantry for long term storage)!

Why was there left over cake? Let’s just say I got a bit carried away! The cake could have served 60 people and our party was for 5 people!

Some tips for your Mother’s Day Cupcakes and decorating with our Whimsical Wildflower Collection.

One of my top tips is to keep your buttercream colour soft or neutral because this really makes our vibrant freeze dried edible flowers stand out.

Keep the buttercream simple and let the flowers add the colour for effortless (and super quick) decorating.

It’s a huge weekend at Bloomish! My daughter went to the ANZAC Day March with her school this morning whilst I’m packing Mother’s Day Collections on the farm all weekend.

🎉10 years since the cake that started it all
+ 5 years today since we launched Bloomish.co

This is the cake I made for my Nan’s 90th birthday. In case you missed my last post, she recently celebrated her 100th birthday.

Luckily I snapped this quick photo at my house 10 years ago because half an hour after the photo, the cake was a jumble of cream, sponge and flowers on the floor!

Upon arriving at my Nan’s party and setting the cake down, my cousin’s 5yo daughter ran into the cake table whilst playing and sent my cake flying!

I was devastated. Nan hadn’t even seen the cake yet, as she was sitting on the verandah. All I could show her was this photo.

This was the first cake photo I shared with my Facebook friends. The response shocked me.

Sooo many people asked how they could buy our world-first freeze dried edible flowers.

I popped them up on but didn’t really have time to do much with them until Covid, when weddings “dried up”.

It wasn’t until I launched a dedicated website (bloomish.co) that the concept took off.

That was 5 years ago today! 0 followers to almost 15,000! Mum and I are so grateful to you all for helping make our family flowerfarm dreams come true.

Most recently, it was amazing to see the response to my Nan’s 100th birthday and the cake I made. It really touched me and I’m visiting Nan this week to show her your lovely messages.

Ironically, 10 years later at Nan’s 100th, I had my 5yo daughter running around and I was sure the cake table would crash. Fortunately it stayed intact.

Amongst these photos is a pic of me in Sydney 10 years ago when I had just won the V***e Clicquot New Generation Award after showing the judges my ideas for freeze dried edible flowers.

Yesterday I was in Sydney at this very location and was telling my daughter all about the photo shoot there!

This last month has been quite a journey down memory lane. Shared here also is a photo of my Nan on her 90th.
