The smallest grand cru vineyard in burgundy is producing one of the best wines on the planet. Hello Comte Liger Belair La Romanee

THE TABLES HAVE TURNED.

This time we have a sommelier submitting a recent interaction and they want your thoughts.

Who you siding with on this one?!?

Only thing better than great wine is great wine and great food. Everyone bottle was FIRING.

Roulot really crushed 06. Creamy Rich and dense material that sits on the palate.

2015 red burgundy. People will argue but I think it might be the best vintage since 1999. It’s what we wanted 2005 to be. 2015 Comte Liger belair Les Cras was giving its all tonight

Fantastic service and food by the team at . I think they’ve perfected the quail. Herbaceous broth with a roasted quail wtf that’s magic. Also who doesn’t love a table side old fashioned? One of those peak fine dining experiences.

Restaurant slip up? Or my friend’s fault for not asking for more information?

The case of the costly pour of wine

2023 is the launch of the new Domaine des Cabottes, an offshoot of the famous house of Bouchard. Bouchard has basically split their domaine into three. The top holdings from cote de Beaune are moving from Bouchard to Cabottes (think Montrachet, baby Jesus, batard Montrachet etc). The top holdings from Cote de Nuits are moving to Domaine d’Eugenie (bonnes mares etc).

The new winery space is currently being built in Puligny for Cabottes and will be ready in 2027.

I think this is a good strategy for Artemis (the owners of Bouchard). Bouchard has some really great holdings and for a long time they’ve been making good wine under the radar. Due to their size they get overlooked a bit. But with the new wineries coming online with much deeper resources being invested (for example - 3x the number of workers in the vineyards) it’ll allow their holdings to differentiate themselves.

Also incredible label. Legit one of my favorite wine labels in burgundy.

Thanks for the early look!

Last second dinners
Long meals
Great food
Fantastic wines
Best of bros

That’s the motto.

Thank you for fitting us in last second. If you all haven’t been in a bit to Baroo you need to go back asap. The energy and resources they’ve devoted has bloomed to a beautiful and warm restaurant with a wonderful well priced wine list, incredible vibrant Korean infused fine dining, and great service. I was blown away. We ordered everything - I mean everything. All the supplements and even both main courses. Cause fatties. I just love texture in food and when sours and vinegars hit me mid bite. Baroo is doing it in spades right now.

Wines

95 Clos rougeard poyeaux is what right bank Bordeaux should be 🤣

A ridiculously well priced Elise Bougy off the list. These wines are improving each year into some real beauts

19 arnoux chaumes - Charles is probably making the best chaumes right now and each vintage gets better as he fine tues the vineyard. The wine is present and loaded with the most delicate red fruit

17 lamy at aubin high density - no one is making better wine out of st aubin than Lamy. And very few are making better Chardonnay than him. Combine it with a vintage like 17 which is so vibrant and energy laden. Beautiful.

Sipping day old re carbonated Diet Coke while sitting in traffic and I have thoughts.

Objectively do you believe there’s such a thing as bad wine?

05/04/2026

My oh my. That’s an awful lot of dark bottles of white burgundy from this “reputable seller” 😅. Guess my last post was wrong - wasn’t premature oxidation as we think of it.

What do you all think? The auction house gave enough info for bidders to make an informed decision? Or they shouldn’t have accepted this consignment?

Here’s your monthly reminder on how to avoid buying white burgundy that are already prematurely oxidized. Even bidding $50 would be better spent elsewhere
