“Oh my gosh, what’s wrong with that chicken?!?” exclaims my child. It’s frightening looking right? But not to worry, she’s just molting! Chickens replace their feathers in the fall to make sure they have good, healthy coverage over their body during the cold winter. It looks like a horror film, but it’s a normal process.

Beautiful micro square bale of hay for sale 🤣 I’ve never seen this happen before with zero string breakage.

Biscuit the chicken wasn’t very happy about the barn cat running towards me. But he leaves the chickens alone and I was holding her tight. 🌅

Biscuit the bantam chicken was missing at chicken night. I luckily found her, can you spot her?

It’s hard to tell the baby geese from the adults now! If you zoom in you can just see a tiny tuft of fluff! 🪿

I posted this video on my personal page last week. I took my dog out in the morning and she tackled our new duck statue, so proud of herself! But the thing most people noticed was how fast the cars on our small two lane rural road are flying. It’s incredibly dangerous for anyone, but now imagine driving a tractor with that traffic. We’ve even had to change how we farm, only making square bales of hay and straw on our rented land as a last option. When we have to rotate fields for soil health sake. Because to bring the tractors with square bales and not being able to see behind you while people fly 60-70 mph all around you is extremely dangerous. It’s all over, people drive too fast and they are very distracted. Something needs done, but that’s policy it seems no one is interested in.

My grandfather would be so proud to see her working with the mule. She picked up one stick and was done 🤣

🚨 Typically a pile of feathers would make me panic. Free range poultry farmers know what I mean, predator jump scare. 🦊 But this is actually the time of year my geese molt. It’s backwards from the chickens who molt in the late fall. So there’s an explosion of white feathers in the yard, but luckily everyone is ok! 🪿
