Just some fun facts…

𝗖𝗼𝘄𝗯𝗼𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝘁𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲: 𝗔 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲

The cowboy hat has a long and storied history, deeply intertwined with the fabric of Western culture. More than just a head covering, the cowboy hat is a symbol of a rich heritage, complete with a set of rules and expectations. Here are a few.

𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘁. As a sign of respect, cowboy hats should be removed during prayer, the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance, religious services, formal dining, and when meeting someone for the first time—especially a lady. When you remove it, hold it in such a way that no one else can see its interior.

𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆. Grasp the crown, not the brim, and store the hat crown-side down to protect the shape of the brim.

𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳. Treat the hat as an extension of its wearer. Don't touch another person's hat, never take it off their heads, and do not try their hat on without express permission.

𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. It's considered bad luck to place a hat on the bed, wear a hat backward, or don a new hat while hunting or rodeoing.

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘁. Taking good care of your hat and being mindful of hat etiquette shows respect for yourself, for others, and the Western way of life.
