While cows may get most of the spotlight, we’re here to celebrate “the other” dairy animal — goats!

Dairy goats provide delicious milk, support farms and families, and bring a whole lot of personality to the dairy industry. This month, we’re raising a glass to the hardworking does, dedicated breeders, and everyone who knows that great dairy comes in more than one size.

On Saturday, Sr farm owner had the pleasure to accompany the NH 4-H Ag-Ambassadors on a farm tour at Joneslan Farm in Hyde Park VT. It was amazing to see a rotary parlor where they milk over 900 goats, it over 1700 goats on the farm. It was very interesting to hear about this goat dairy and how it came to be!

With summer just around the corner, the girls have officially started heading back out to pasture to enjoy the fresh grass and sunshine again
Our first show of the season is only 2 weeks away and things around the barn are getting busy. Babies are getting clipped, washed, and ready as we start preparing everyone for the ring again. One of the best times of year is finally here! Green fields, long days, and the start of show season.

What did you do with your goats today? We took a baby for a ride to go get pain medication for a hurt leg. We try to start socialization early with our girls. She seemed to enjoy her outing🐐🚗

Their sire “Rocky” is the son of the 2021 junior reserve national champion Heatwave KO Diamon Dazzle and sired by KBARC KLE Malachite who had first place jr get of sire at the 2021 nationals!

All these dams have proved their worth in the show ring with multiple Grand Champion wins and Best of Breed wins between all of them!

When we were approached years ago asking if we had any dairy goats that needed a new farm to call home, we did not hesitate to have 2 of our does go to Joppa Hill Educational Farm! We love seeing Toga (Dreamtimes PT Going Greek) living out her best retirement life!! Thank you Joppa Hill for educating the future and state about agriculture and taking great care of our girls!

This is Toga-she is a Toggenburg Goat. Toga is nearing 13 years old, which is pretty old for a goat. The Toggenburg is a Swiss dairy goat breed, known as the oldest known dairy goat breed, originating from the Toggenburg Valley in Switzerland. They are sturdy, and alert, with a coat that ranges from light fawn to dark chocolate, distinguished by unique white markings on the face, ears, legs, and tail. They are known for their high milk production, hardiness, and adaptability.
Toga does not let anyone push her around, she is the first to find a way out the gate, and loves to catch a snooze on her high perch or like here, in a snuggly spot in the ground. Even though she is 13, she will still romp a bit with Eddie and Louis and put Rose in her place.
Come visit Toga at the farm and give her some scratches and props for being such an amazing old lady goat.
