We’re excited to share another first for Catoctin Ridge Chateau! 🍷

We entered our inaugural wine, our 2023 Genesis I Cabernet Sauvignon, into our very first wine competition - the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition, celebrating winemakers from across the East Coast.

Our official wine labels weren’t quite ready in time for the competition deadline, so we did what every determined small winery does - printed them out and taped them onto the bottles! 😬🍷

Here’s my oldest daughter, Isabelle, proudly standing with the three bottles we submitted.

From bottling our very first vintage to sending these bottles off to be judged alongside wines from across the Atlantic Seaboard, this was a pretty special milestone for our family and Catoctin Ridge Chateau.

After months of edits, revisions, and patiently waiting… our wine labels FINALLY arrived! 🍷🍇

And where were they delivered? Outside. In the rain. Sitting in a puddle. 😬🤣 Of course they were!

Thankfully, they still look beautiful and are drying out nicely. Apparently, the first vintage from Catoctin Ridge Chateau needed one last little adventure before making it onto the bottles. 😂🍷

🍇 We Made It to Berry Touch! 🍇

The 2026 vintage is moving right along at Catoctin Ridge Château. Our East Coast Cabernet Sauvignon vines have officially reached berry touch- the stage when the berries have grown enough to begin touching one another within the cluster.

Perched high on the mountain, each milestone brings us one step closer to harvest.

Spring has arrived on the ridgeline in northern Virginia.

Our bluebird and tree swallow nesting boxes are now filled, marking the beginning of a new generation in the vineyard. In the weeks ahead, these birds will play an important role- naturally supporting vine health by keeping insect populations in check.

A small but meaningful reminder that great wine begins with a thriving ecosystem.

The vineyard is waking. 🌱

Budbreak has begun across nearly half of our vines-arriving a few weeks ahead of schedule on the slopes of the Catoctin ridgeline.

It’s a beautiful, delicate moment-one that reminds us how much of each vintage is entrusted to nature. Fingers crossed for warm nights ahead.
