New home, new life, and a beautiful reminder that we were bought at the highest price and are never alone even through the worst storms. I wrote this blog post nearly ten years ago and when I saw this tree budding in my front yard I was instantly taken back to that moment in my childhood when the events of Good Friday were shared with me by a man I loved with my whole heart. It may be Friday…but Sunday is coming. https://purpleribbonhomestead.com/index.php/2017/07/29/the-number-one-pest-killing-your-tomato-plants/

I have 3 goat herdshares available! If you’re looking for R*A*W*, nutrient dense, full-fat goodness, this is it! I have several cow customers who have tried the goat milk and love it so much they ask to have it regularly. I even had an accidental last week as pictured below 😂😂😂. PM for info!

A few quick announcements;

🐐 For goat babies, I am going to do something a little different this year! With a divorce in progress, move to the new farm, the addition of my jersey girls and working on transitioning the goats to a rotational grazing system and the structural changes that go along with milking under that system, I’ll be offering kids unregistered, with the option to purchase registration papers at a later date. Cedar View Daniel *B is the sire for most kids (his dam, Phoebe, is a stunning finished champion who has made the top ten list numerous times as well as placed very high at nationals). This is an opportunity to score some high-value, top milking genetics at a **very** reduced price. These babies are raised on coccidia prevention, are disbudded or naturally polled, and dewormed prior to leaving. I do have a couple horned babies that were too small to disbud and then missed the window.

Doelings - 4️⃣0️⃣0️⃣
Wethers - 1️⃣5️⃣0️⃣

In addition, I have a jet black doe available IN MILK with application for registration. She is skittish and will need some time and patience to work with her. She is being sold, with her blue eyed wether at her side, for 6️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ .

***Please ask your spouses before messaging me, and plan to come out to the farm to pick out your kids. I have all the colors of the rainbow with more on the way! Kids will be ready to go Valentine’s Day ♥️🐐♥️

UPDATE: It has been a long couple of days with a lot of around the clock worry. I lost Ava and Shirley Jean’s beautiful little doeling I was planning to retain. I’m considering it a miracle still that the rest pulled through. It was absolutely horrific. I had a kid throwing herself all over the ground screaming, completely neurological and vomiting, up and eating normally today. Thankful for Bruce who did not let me weather that alone. He was by my side through the whole thing. Helped hold, while I medicated and then took down the poisonous plants for me. Thank you to everyone who prayed for me and my sweet girls. Pretty sure it was the cherry laurel that did it.

2/1/26 is a day I will not soon forget 💔 With regenerative farming we use electric polywire fencing to rotationally graze the herds. This way we can move them often to fresh grass, managing the pastures while allowing them to be naturally fertilized and adequately rested for nutritionally dense re-growth. The recent snow/ice storm rendered the wires essentially useless. They are sagging, some under a thick layer of ice and not very hot to the touch. My girls are basically grass puppies though and follow me everywhere so I didn’t see it as a big deal. Aside from raiding the alfalfa in the tractor shed and leaving p**p pellets everywhere the day started just as usual. I milked and fed everyone. The girls followed me up to the house several times as I swapped milk jugs or freshened the udder wash bucket with hot soapy water. Come evening all but 4 or five girls were screaming in pain and vomiting everywhere. I scoured the shed and area and think they ingested cherry laurel and/or azalea (one of each plant by the house). We had rhododendron and azalea at my old place and the goats didn’t ever bother it when they broke out. Yesterday they did though and now they are very very sick. I will keep everyone posted but goat herdshare is definitely paused for the time being. I am praying they can pull through this. They have all received banamine for pain, baking soda and electrolytes drenched, two rounds of activated charcoal, mineral oil, and kaolin pectin. In a few hours I’ll start vitamin B, fluids, pro-bios and put out grass hay only for a few days. If you’re the praying type, please keep my sweet babies in mind. It is absolutely heartbreaking to see them hurting and feel so helpless to stop it 😭

Daily dose of the goats teaching me patience. Just because the buck is not the favorite to look at, and his daughters are slower to mature does not warrant selling him. Hindsight is 20/20 🤦‍♀️. She is so milky too. Purple Ribbon’s Paidir 4*M (pend) 82nd percentile as a first freshener.
