Rock Branch Horse and Cattle is absolutely ECSTATIC to announce our dear friend Kelly ( and one of the most amazing people we know) is joining our team! Look for Kelly to be teaching lessons, guiding trail rides and yes doing summer camps!

My name is Kelly Marie Britts, owner of Falcon's Nest Farm, LLC. I am honored to be working with you as part of the Rock Branch Family!! Horses have been a fundamental part of my life for as long as I can remember. Sharing their gifts with others through teaching, equine assisted learning/psychotherapy, mentoring, and/or coaching are my greatest passions. I love helping riders build confidence in and out of the tack. I am Eagala Certified as an Equine Specialist (CES), trained in the Masterson Method of Equine Bodywork, mentor, as well as having a BA in English and a Post-Bacc in Psychology. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be part of your equine journey!!

We love and appreciate all the veterinarians, techs, office staff and everyone in between that all contribute to our horses getting the best possible care they can!!

Today is Veterinary Appreciation Day! Join us in celebrating all the veterinary professionals that help our animals (especially our horses) live long, happy and healthy lives.

If you are looking for ways to say “thank you” to your veterinary team, there are plenty of options — like delivering fresh coffee and treats, leaving a paws-itive online review, or writing a thank you note. You could even Google a fun craft project to make a personalized gift! However, it’s very possible that the best way to thank your horse doctors and equine vet techs is to make their job easier. Some small things can make the biggest difference, like being understanding if the vet is running late; making sure your horse is caught and groomed before the arrival of the veterinarian; training your horse to be well-behaved during the visit; following the veterinarian’s advice and keeping an open line of communication so problems can be addressed quickly, etc.

No matter how you choose to say thank you today, there is no doubt you will brighten your vet team’s day!

The myth that you just need BUY the right gadgets to train your horse is a lie.

That’s right, I said it.

Correct training doesn’t happen when you use the fancy gadgets with special names (it is not the gadget that is the answer).

Correct training doesn’t happen when you lack the knowledge or skills to do what will really help the horse (in fact, lack of knowledge or skills more often than not leads to frustration which often leads to making unfortunate mistakes).

Correct training doesn’t happen when you spend all your time watching a gazillion clinics or symposiums with other people doing the work (at some point you need to DO the work, yourself).

Correct training doesn’t happen when you just do MORE of the same things you are doing, in hopes that someday it will start working better (if anything, doing more of those same things will only make matters worse, not better).

Correct training doesn’t happen when you hop from one system or method to another, never providing any continuity or cohesiveness for the horse (it is confusing for the horse, and counterproductive for you).

Correct training doesn’t happen when you follow a training plan based on artificial myths about how the horse’s mind and body works (rather than biomechanics and horse psychology).

Correct training DOES happen when you do basic GOOD effective work in a careful, methodical, and thoughtful manner.

Correct training DOES happen when you take a step back to look at what your horse really needs to not just survive the training, but to THRIVE in the training.

Correct training DOES happen when you follow a clear strategy, method, and instructions based on how the horse’s body REALLY works.

Correct training DOES happen when you support your horse with the foundational work that gives the horse the ABILITY to do what you are asking of him.

Correct training is not glamorous or glitzy. It isn’t about dazzling people with quick results, and it isn’t about bombarding the horse with so much that he hides within himself to cope.

Correct training is work that keeps the horse sound and happy into his elder years. It is work that helps him become confident in body, mind, and spirit.

Correct training begins (and returns regularly to) solid, effective groundwork which helps the horse learn balance, coordination, awareness, and suppleness.

Believe it or not, correct training IS possible for every rider. It doesn’t even require anything fancy.

You can’t BUY correct training. You can’t buy yourself into being an effective trainer. But you CAN learn. You can study the foundational work and methods, and you can BECOME the trainer your horse needs you to be.

Whether you consider yourself a “trainer” or not, if you are the one riding your horse, you are his trainer. And you are "capable enough" to become that trainer that your horse needs.

You JUST need the tools and support to get there. 🥰

We have a systematic online course where we give you the TOOLS you need to succeed. This course starts with the Groundwork that will help you lay a solid, correct foundation for all of your other work. This is the work that helps you to build the correct musculature which your horse needs for all of the riding work.

- The theoretical foundation of how to develop the horse’s musculature through groundwork.
- The overview so that you know how the groundwork ties in to the rest of the training of the horse.
- The strategy of which groundwork methods work best for which horses and which situations.
- The understanding of how to choose the right equipment and how to use it.
- The biomechanical understanding of how to influence specific body parts in order to develop the musculature correctly.
- Step-by-step how-to instructions on how to get started with longeing, double-longing, work-in-hand, and long reining.
- How to use Feldenkrais-inspired bodywork to improve your horse’s awareness, balance, and coordination as well as his bond with you.
- The feedback on your videos, so you know what you are doing right and what to fix, but also HOW to fix it.
- The community that's all working through the same materials together at the same time. A group of people who GET it: they know what you are working towards and understand why you are doing what you are doing to achieve that.
- Live Q&As for ongoing support throughout the course
- Plenty of time to get things done between trainings.

The course begins June 6, 2022 (today) but we are keeping the doors open until midnight tomorrow. This is the only time we will run this course this year.
