🎉Great news! There are still horse girls! 🏇

I have recently had the joy of working with this young barrel racer, who is hopeful to improve her mare’s comfort through basic dressage. While this is another great example of how basic dressage is good for horses across all disciplines, that’s not my point today.

Working with this horse girl has reminded me of why we’re all here. This is something important to remember after a truly brutal winter. I remember being thirteen, and the thrill of going out to the barn to ride, muck stalls, or get the ever-engaging lesson. It brought so much more peace to my busy mind and active body than school. There was something magical about sitting on a horse and feeling them move and learning to move with them and influence the movement. I also loved my horse barn friends. They came from completely different walks of life, but it was so easy to connect based on our shared love of riding and horsemanship.

So if you feel totally unmotivated to ride, just remember your inner horse girl. Thirteen-year-old you would want grown-up you to ride. When motivation is gone, habits carry you through. In the past when I had a horse I really didn’t want to ride, I’d promise myself I’d at least get a leg over. If it was a problem horse sometimes all we would do would be to work on mounting. Even when the ride felt subpar, I was glad to have done it.

If you only have an hour you can still ride for ten minutes. If you only have one day a week to ride, get a good trainer and show up on that one day. Through all of life’s ups and downs your riding habit will serve you, no matter how you show up. The barn community and the relationship you build with your horse will feed your inner horse girl… and at the end of the day, is why we are all here.

Hi everyone!
My name is Callie Higgins
I’m excited to officially introduce High Roller Performance Horses & Training.

My training style is built on patience, consistency, and understanding. I believe every horse deserves the time it takes to feel confident, willing, and calm in their work — no rushing, no shortcuts.

My program focuses on:

•Solid groundwork to build respect, trust, and communication

• Thoughtful saddle time to aid in developing softness, balance, and confidence

• Trail riding to create a well-rounded, exposed, and mentally steady horse

• Cattle/rope desensitization to build cow sense, responsiveness, and real-world usefulness

I offer trailer in lessons or I can come to your farm depending on distance. I have a passion for helping people learn and grow.
My goal is to create horses that are not only capable and athletic, but safe, willing, and enjoyable partners for their riders.
