Grandma’s Garden owner “Amy” who is the grand-daughter of Grandma brought Grandma’s Garden specialty condiments to the Internet in the Summer of 2009, with a dream of providing the greatest relish to those with an appetite for a very special and unique relish - made with NO pickles. For years Amy watched as her grandmother made this relish in her kitchen. Every summer the kitchen was like a produc
tion line, while Grandma gathered her garden vegetables that were located in her own backyard in downtown Pittsburgh. Grandma would lovingly and happily chop vegetables and boil jars for the canning process. Neighbors, friends and family waited patiently for their jar or two if they were so fortunate to get this specialty relish. Grandma would always put jars away for her grand-daughter Amy who would visit from Texas. Amy was exceptionally close to her Grandmother and Grandma would always sneak an extra jar in her suitcase, secretly so no other members of the family knew – it was our little secret. Amy used this relish not only on hotdogs, sausages, porkchops, eggs, hamburgers, but also found that this relish added a special flavor into sauces and other dishes like macarroni, potato and tuna salad. A few years before Grandma’s death in 2006 Grandma gave Amy her secret recipe. Amy held this recipe close to her heart. After Grandma’s passing Amy wanted to do something to remember her Grandmother and never forget the special loving care she shared with so many by reproducing this product and others to come. Right before Grandma’s death she handed Amy an old manila envelope that she said held a letter that Amy had written to her years earlier. Grandma told her that “one day you will want this”. Amy put it away without opening until she was gathering the relish recipe and came across the manila envelope. Upon opening, Amy was blessed to find the newspaper article from Pittsburgh that featured her Grandmother and her garden located in downtown Pittsburgh. This is how Grandma’s Garden continues to live today, through her Grand-daughter and great grand-children who will continue to produce the many special flavors and memories from her little kitchen in Pittsburgh. We know you will cherish this relish as we have for so many years and you will also find so many wonderful ways to implement into your everyday cooking. With love from Grandma’s Garden.
