🐿️ Today’s Canine Agenda: SQUIRREL HUNTING! 🐿️

All three dogs are on high alert, patiently watching and waiting for those crazy little rodents. Meanwhile, the squirrels are chattering away like they’re having a full-blown neighborhood meeting as they leap from tree to tree. 😂

And yes…these dogs really DO catch them. The squirrels have apparently failed to read the warning signs. 🤣

Meanwhile, Ronald and Porter insisted on their morning head scritches while the waterer was filling. ❤️

These faces. These sweet boys. 🥹
I’ve got about 18 more months to enjoy them before they head to the freezer, so you better believe I’m soaking up every single head scratch, nuzzle and goofy moment.

Just another day of being blessed to steward this little piece of God’s creation. 🌱🐕🐄❤️

🤢 Well, this is officially the biggest field rat I’ve ever seen!

Look at the SIZE of that thing! Apparently, the farm buffet has attracted some unwanted customers. 😳🐀

Thankfully, Faith was on duty and did what a good livestock guardian does — she took care of business before that monster could move on to my geese or turkeys. 🐕‍🦺💪

I lost a hen yesterday after she was attacked in her backside. I’m pretty sure Faith found the culprit and made sure there wouldn’t be a repeat performance.

Sometimes farm life is all sunshine, fresh eggs and beautiful sunsets… and sometimes you find yourself standing over a rat the size of a small cat thanking God for your livestock guardian dog! 😂

🦃 Apparently, I’ve been raising dinosaurs. 😂

The Heritage Blue Slate turkey poults I started raising back in early May have officially entered the “Holy cow, look how big you’ve gotten!” stage of life.

These birds have had it pretty good around here—high-protein, non-GMO feed, 24/7 free-ranging, sunshine, bugs, grass, and plenty of room to strut around like they personally own the place.

And of course, they have Bear, my Anatolian Shepherd, standing guard. Because nothing says luxury turkey resort quite like having your own full-time livestock security detail. 😂

They’ve grown into some absolutely gorgeous Heritage Blue Slates, and before long they’ll be making their grand appearance on Thanksgiving tables—including mine. 🦃🍽️

If you want to put a real farm-raised Thanksgiving turkey on your table this year, now is the time to reserve yours!

Just remember…you’re not buying a turkey. You’re buying the bird that has spent six months plotting its escape while I’ve been feeding it. 🤣

Dog days of summer. When the outside temperatures reach 100°+ the big dogs come inside. Bear loves the cool quiet basement while Faith loves to lounge inside. She has the funniest positions 😂🤷‍♀️ Tank always claims his rightful place on my lap 🥰

Life on the farm this afternoon is wonderfully low-key—and sometimes it’s in these quiet moments that I feel God’s presence most clearly. 🌿🦋

I spent nearly an hour watching a freshly emerged Monarch Butterfly through the living room window as it slowly fanned its wings, gathering strength and hopping from flower head to flower head.

What a beautiful reminder that God’s handiwork is all around us. We can be so busy looking for the big miracles that we miss the small ones happening right outside our window.

Meanwhile, Faith decided her afternoon plans should include lounging on the couch (Bear is in his favorite spot in the basement) instead of keeping one eye open watching the livestock. And honestly…she’s earned it. They both have❤️

Every night she faithfully protects the large animals while Bear keeps watch over the geese and turkeys in a separate pasture. They each have their purpose, and watching them do what they were created to do is another little reminder of God’s perfect design.

Sometimes God whispers through the simplest things. And today, I am listening. 🌾🦋🐾
