A beautiful wine for Father’s Day. A Les Hauts de Barville Chateauneuf-Du-Pape. Flavors of dark cherry, plum, leather, and smoke. Medium tannins with a dry, smooth finish. Perfect pairing with the bbq brisket. Cheers to all the Dad’s out there.

We are pleased to feature today's Drink on the Rail, Smoky Bourbon Lemonade, courtesy of Bluegrass Bitters. This refreshing drink is well-suited for a beautiful summer day or any occasion. The recipe can be found in the accompanying photo. For added smokiness, I utilized Basil Hayden Subtle Smoke bourbon. Garnished with a Honey Hush honey infused dried lemon. Cheers!

Friday's Drink On The Rail is a tasty tequila beverage I cal Sangre del Sol (Blood of the Sun). Añejo tequila, cranberry pomegranate juice, orange bitters, a squeeze of fresh lime, and one big rock. That's it. No sweetener. No fuss.

The añejo does all the heavy lifting here. A year or more in oak barrels gives it those caramel and vanilla notes that make a sweetener completely unnecessary. The cranberry pomegranate brings the tartness, the fresh lime keeps it alive, and the big rock melts slow so every sip is a little different than the last.

The dried lime wheel on the rim is not just for looks either. Those essential oils from the dried peel hit your nose before the drink even reaches your lips.

Recipe
2oz Anejo tequila (I used Don Julio Tequila - Anejo)
4oz Cranberry Pomegranate juice
Spritz of Bluegrass Bitters 5 Spice Orange Bitters
Dried Lime Wheel
Squeeze of fresh lime (optional)

Put all ingredients in a rocks glass over a big rock. Spritz with bitters. Garnish with lime wheel. Enjoy.

Today’s Drink On The Rail is the Briny Breeze. I came to the beach for peace and quiet. This perky little pickle had other plans. 😳😂🌊

Belvedere Vodka, a gorgeous ocean view, and a gherkin-stuffed olive that woke up and chose CHAOS.

That pickle stuffed itself into that olive like it owned the place, stood straight up, and said “yes, I am the main character and WHAT about it.” Zero chill. Full commitment.

It is giving “I did not come to the beach to be subtle and neither did my garnish.”

Cheers to Belvedere, brazen olives, and that perky little pickle that has more confidence than most people I know.

No regrets. Another round. You are welcome.
