My temperature “blanket” hasn’t quite gone to plan 😂 I envisioned this adorable-flat-circle. Somehow it feels more like an octopus than circle 😂 but it’s kept track of temps for me, so it still did its job 👍🏻

Date night 🤣 Cherry and Lorelei were paired up, as were Coraline and Shadow, so we should start having kits again in about a month or so!

The backyard free range flock was chilling around the crab apple. I love seeing them milling about and foraging! And Uncle is so dapper 😍

We do the deep litter method for winter warmth and we are working on our fresh layers now. We’ve had the coop bare to the concrete all summer and I just enjoy seeing it with the straw

This is such a gorgeous speckled egg!!

If yesterday was peppers, today was eggs!
-Two trays of eggs prepped for the freeze dryer
-A batch of hard boiled eggs
-Shells crushed from the last baked batch
-New batch of shells rinsed and prepped for the oven!

Adding to the list: Pumpkin!! This cutie came to us from down the road and we got him vetted…upper respiratory infection and two twice daily meds. But he’s adorable and loves to sleep with Aurora. He’s also never far away when I’m in the kitchen 😂 Cute little fall Pumpkin 🎃

Whitney picked me up more stamps so I could get the rest of the letters in the mail. Breast Cancer awareness!

Alex decided she likes Aurora’s tractor 😂 and since Aurora was in class, there was no fuss about it 😂

Loki was napping in the stroller 😍

Freeze dried bell peppers

And in the jar!

Cutting up hatch peppers for white chicken chili while watching my Arsenal beat Nottingham! ⚽️ 💜

Start of sriracha

Filling up the processor

And starting the seven day ferment. It’s gonna get to smelling soooooo good!!

My bowl of cayenne peppers (apparently today is pepper processing day 😂) is overflowing. I cut up a tray for the freeze dryer and two for the dehydrator. The potency of this for crushed red pepper is mind blowing and delicious

Odin kept me company while I ran out to the garden to grab more herbs for the dehydrator. We’re in the last stretch before frost for me to get all the lovely leaves for the year!

Tulsi basil, tomatoes, red jalapeños, and mint!

Mint (my original reason for running to the garden)

Look at all the flowers on they cayenne pepper plant 🤯

No carrots popping up but the dandelions look pretty happy with my carrot cover 😂😂

I’m excited for this experiment! I have so much trouble with onions, so I seeded some onions to start building roots to overwinter! So maybe I’ll have some lovely onions next garden season!

Basil and mint officially running!

Currently at my “desk” working up herbs for winter teas 🥰
Homegrown peppermint, tulsi basil, and hibiscus coming out of the dehydrator now 💜

Aurora got sick, then I got sick, so posting definitely fell by the wayside. So here’s a catch up of some of what’s been happening on the farm!
Odin supervised and was impatient with how long momma was processing produce in the kitchen 😂

Aurora was pushing Alex on her baby trike

Odin curled up by the kiddo play pen while we were having a work day outside now that we have some cooler weather

Aurora found a caterpillar in the garage so we carefully moved it somewhere better for it

New rug on the porch and the cats approve! Four cats spread out

Alex enjoying the morning while dogs are out to potty

Odin and Avalon watching morning shenanigans closely

The hibiscus fell over and snapped the trunk, so I had to harvest what was available. For a first attempt and not knowing anything about it-I’m impressed with how it went this year! Next year I will definitely give more support!

Some fall color starting to show up on the tree line! 😍

😍😍
The Roselle hibiscus is blooming and gifting me lovely calyx 💜
The blooms are gorgeous, the calyx looks like candy, and it’s all just wonderful!
The winds last night blew over the bush and the cage, but we got it back upright.
I’ve got the calyx broke down and on the dehydrator tray to save for teas 🥰

It’s been a minute since I posted but we’ve been busy here for sure! Tomatoes and peppers finishing up some ripening on the counter

Cayennes waiting to be topped and then put in the dehydrator for crushed red pepper and red jalapeño boxing up in the fridge until I have enough for some of my awesome homemade sriracha

Aurora found an American Dagger moth caterpillar! How cool does it look?? But no touchy! It can cause rashes with its prickles-and we were careful when moving it

Whitney got this photo of a beautiful spiderweb and Avalon behind it while we were at grandma and grandpa’s!

Hanging out with Auntie in Grandma and Grandpa’s garden 💜

Horseradish plant from grandpa to put in our garden. Gonna see if it takes 🤞🏻

Avalon, with Conrad giving forced snuggles 😂

Look at this cool cayenne! It’s like two peppers cooked together 😍

Got my onions for next year planted. Trying a new method to see if this works. Still trying to find my groove with onions. Also put in a row of watermelon radish to see how they taste!

This is what 60 cayenne peppers makes for sweet and spicy sauce. Looking good!! 🤤

Potty time last night had Jellybean keeping me company 🥰

And I got a cute photo of Odin

And *tried* to get a cute photo of Matthew, but this is a a close as I got because that boy does not hold still outside 😂😂💜

Got a pot of tomatoes on the stove today to work up another batch of spaghetti sauce 💪🏻

Last night’s garden and coop harvest

Making up a batch of sweet and spicy sauce for dipping!

12 jelly jars full! No time to water bath tonight, so that’s on the list of to-do’s tomorrow!

I did get the spaghetti sauce and diced tomatoes with jalapeños canned and just waiting on one more ting!

Dicing up bell peppers to put in the freeze dryer!

Spent a bunch of time in the kitchen processing up garden harvest
Topped and split cayenne to dehydrate for crushed red pepper
Diced up tomatoes and jalapeño to put in my chili 😍
Batch of spaghetti sauce from garden grown tomatoes
A couple loaves of bread (pre-shaped)
The fire c***r is taking on a pinkish hue-hard to see in the photo-from the red onion we grew that I added and I am loving the color 🥰
