This 1910 Louisville newspaper excerpt is from Thomas Walker Bullitt’s family history. He described his grandfather Alexander Scott Bullitt, who built the original Oxmoor home and made a habit of riding out to the Big Road just to bring travelers home for the night.

Some things never change. Pour a glass, pull up a chair, you’re always welcome at Oxmoor.

Today, we celebrated the Women of Oxmoor in partnership with the The Filson Historical Society society. Guests got a rare look at artifacts seldom seen by the public. It was a day full of history, memory, and gratitude and of course bourbon. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

Before the memory fades ~ one more look back at this summer’s 250 Years of Valor film series, from our first screening all the way through to closing night with Glory under the stars at Oxmoor.

A special thank you to President Abraham Lincoln and Mrs. Mary Todd Lincoln (portrayed by Larry & Mary Elliott) who helped bring history to life for our finale.

Thank you to the Sons of the American Revolution Governor Shelby Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution Corn Island Chapter volunteers, and living history reenactor Dennis Medley.

Thank you to everyone who came out this summer. These are the moments worth remembering.

“I’m here to represent 10 million gallons of fine Kentucky bourbon.” ~ William Marshall Bullitt, arguing against Prohibition before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1919.

He lost the case, but not before bottling some of that bourbon for himself which has now become the seed of a story we still tell today.
