We'd like to thank everyone who has supported us over the last 1.5 years! We've loved having our birds and they are really fantastic animals to have, as well as being slightly addictive 😉. Ame will be heading to college next weekend and we have decided to go ahead and close this chapter of our lives (at least, for now). All of our birds have been sold with the exception of 2 of our originals, Horndog and Big Momma, because we couldn't stand the thought of getting rid of them!

Well, 4 of the 5 eggs hatched! Three of the babies are doing well. One chick was stuck in his egg for quite a long time and has very curled toes, so he may not make it. We'll keep you posted!

Well, it's hatching day!! So far, two have hatched and two are in process. Horndog is a new father again, for the first time in many months!

It's been more than minute since our last post, so time for an update! We are down to 5 birds right now. We lost one to a hawk a few weeks ago (our third one), so everybirdy is now in the garage for protection. We sold 1 roo and 4 hens last week. We lost one roo last week when his sisters beat him up (quail can be absolutely VICIOUS with one another).

We currently have 5 eggs that we're hoping are fertilized; they are from Horndog and two of his older daughters so we're not sure if Horndog is shooting blanks now or not.

So, for now, we still have 3 of our older birds (Horndog, Big Mama, and Cinderella) and two young birds (Smooth Criminal and Bitchy Jean). Fingers crossed that we'll have some new fluffers in about 1 week!!

Update on our little fluffers. We now have 6 healthy chicks in the brooder and two chicks in the incubator who have curled toes, so we'll need to make them some "shoes" this evening to see if we can get those toes fixed. We've had two chicks die from natural causes (just not strong enough). Typically, the first ones to hatch are the strongest, and the late hatchers often have issues.
