This week on Sustainability Now!, your host, Justin Mog, grabs his toolbelt for a conversation with Shelby Rodeffer & Nick Garner, volunteers with the Louisville Tool Library! Operating at 1227 Logan Street on Wednesdays 5-7pm and Saturdays 11am-3pm, the Louisville Tool Library has been building community, knowledge, and resilience around repair and maintenance since 2022. Louisville Tool Library is a volunteer-run, community-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit lending system dedicated to accessibility of resources, waste reduction, and growth through education. Operating similarly to a traditional book-filled library, members are able to borrow a wide variety of household items on a 7 day lending cycle. Annual membership works on a sliding scale donation and your contributions - tools or otherwise - are all tax deductible. Tune in to hear about the new classroom they are building to support their workshops, which are funded by a Metro Solid Waste grant that has enabled the Tool Library to start paying its instructors and supplying materials for the classes they offer. Upcoming workshops include:

Three and some weeks out!! Learn how to capture rain water then assemble a rain barrel to take home. Workshop fee covers rain barrel kit. Don't let rainwater go to waste - recapture it!

Be prepared to take your rain barrel home after the workshop! These are up to 55 gallon drums that will fit in the back of a standard sedan or hatch-back SUV. The rain barrels cannot be stored for future pickup, so please plan accordingly!
