Our newest private barrel selection has arrived! We are very excited to share it with our bourbon loving community. It quietly hit the shelves over the weekend, so you may have seen it and wondered what it was. Well wonder no longer...
We selected this barrel on site at Heaven Hill Distillery in November of 2025. It is 9 years old and comes in at 127.3 proof. We think that it drinks a little lower proof (around 115 or so), but we'll let you be the ultimate judge.
The nose is approachable despite the high proof point and has traditional bourbon notes of vanilla, butterscotch, caramel, etc. A few members of our group got bubble gum and cotton candy notes. As you work down the glass and go back for a second or third nosing, you might catch a little Dr. Pepper. I sure did.
The taste has all of the classic bourbon notes including vanilla and cream along with pear & honeysuckle. The high proof point also turns into a cinnamon rush, like there’s a hot tamale candy in the glass.
The finish has a lingering sweetness and it is surprisingly smooth given its alcohol content.
All in all, it’s a damn good bourbon. We think you’ll agree.
