Naïve is one of my go-to spots and perfect for a spring day.

The elote margarita is a must. Smooth, not overly acidic, and really easy to drink. My favorite appetizer is the tuna ceviche, served in little wonton-style tacos. Super fresh and always a standout.

I always get the chicken tinga empanadas too. The Peruvian green sauce they come with is so good. Tried the patatas bravas for the first time and they’re basically fried mashed potato balls with chipotle aioli and brasa sauce. Really good.

The patio is beautiful. Easy place to sit and hang out for a while and enjoy one of their many different delicious margaritas.

Dinner at MeeshMeesh in Nulu. We started with the whipped labneh and pastrami hummus, then ordered the lamb and the steak. Everything is designed for the table, so you end up passing plates and trying a little of everything. The meats were excellent and the cocktails were well crafted.

And dessert… save room for dessert. Even if you have to unbutton your pants, DO IT. The brown butter knafeh was unreal and unlike anything else.

The best part of fall isn’t pumpkin spice, it is Hop Atomica rolling out a full lineup of fall menu items 🍂They even have a whole section of seasonal Old Fashioneds, and we tried the spiced apple walnut and the butterfat-washed vanilla butterscotch, both rich and perfect for cooler weather.

We started with the whipped feta dip with hot honey and za’atar, plus wood-fired bread and cucumbers, then moved on to the Verdura and Frank Sinatra pizzas. The Verdura (butternut squash, goat cheese, cinnamon) tastes like fall on a crust, and the Frank Sinatra with bolognese and balsamic glaze is total comfort.

Their patio is one of my favorite spots in Louisville, and my toddler acts like it is his. Hop Atomica just nails creative combos. There is never a boring food or drink on that menu.

My husband and I broke up the work week grind with a lunch date at Coals Artisan Pizza. All their pizzas are named after Louisville neighborhoods, which is cool — but no Pleasure Ridge Park (s/o to my Dirty Dixie people). So I went with the Whiskey Row, one of their house specials, and honestly, not a bad consolation prize.

It came stacked with slow roasted bourbon brown sugar glazed pork belly, olive oil, mozzarella, roasted garlic red onion aioli, arugula, and tomatoes. The sweet, the savory, the fresh — all working overtime on one crust.

I ordered it off their lunch special menu — 8" personal pizza ($12.5, prices vary) with a $2 add-on Caesar. No photo of that because I inhaled it the second it hit the table. I was starving. Don’t judge me.

Finally made it to Naïve since the rebrand. We skipped entrées and went straight for small plates and margaritas, which honestly felt like the right move. The taco ceviche was the standout. Super fresh and packed with flavor. The empanadas and esquites were delicious as well, but I was especially excited to see they had an avocado margarita. I had my first one at and have been chasing that combo ever since. This one delivered.

We also ordered a pitcher of the fresh and spicy margarita. It disappeared before I could even think about taking a photo. The space is bright, relaxed, and exactly where I want to drink tequila in the middle of the day. New favorite marg spot in Louisville.

Love stopping by Hop Atomica in Germantown each season to see what wild creations hit the menu. This time? The Florida Man pizza with smoked alligator and the Respect Your Elderberry cocktail. Unexpected? Absolutely. Delicious? Always.

Had dinner at 1894 Lodge for my 30th and was seriously impressed. It feels like you’re out in a quiet little country town, but it’s only about 25 minutes from the city.

I ordered their Smoked Old Fashioned, and it might be the coolest cocktail presentation I’ve seen—it’s served in a small treasure chest, and you pour it yourself over an engraved ice cube. The blood orange with the smoke was such a good combination.

I also had the goat cheese fritters and one of their weekly specials—blackened red snapper over jalapeño cream corn, chili lime sweet potatoes, and soy-glazed Brussels sprouts. I rarely care about the vegetable sides, but these were some of the best parts of the meal.

The space is cozy and thoughtful, and the staff was incredibly kind. Definitely a spot I’ll be going back to. A lowkey standout.

Khao Boys at Trellis Brewing brings bold Thai-Southern fusion—zesty Som Tum, rich yellow curry, and fried chicken that’s extra crispy, laced with lemongrass, chili, and lime leaf. Finished with a cowboy hat that plays the part. Untraditional in all the right ways 🤠
