Luxury Redefined.

Few cars can claim serious credentials at both Le Mans and Pebble Beach. This 1938 Talbot-Lago T150-C SS Teardrop Coupé is one of just 11 examples featuring Figoni & Falaschi’s celebrated Art Deco coachwork, but unlike its siblings, it was built to race.

Commissioned by French nobleman and gentleman racer Duke Philippe Régnier de Massa, the car competed in the 1939 24 Hours of Le Mans, reaching ninth place before retiring on lap 88. Its racing career ended just 10 weeks later when World War II began, and the Talbot-Lago was later stored in East Berlin before disappearing from view during the Cold War.

After resurfacing and undergoing an extensive restoration, the car appeared at Pebble Beach and later won Best in Show at Villa d’Este. Now it’s headed to auction during Monterey Car Week, where RM Sotheby’s estimates it could fetch between $7 million and $8 million.
