Today the calves moved into their new spot together. It’s a big change in their little world, and we’re glad they have familiar faces beside them as they settle in. 🤎

The cows made it to their home away from home! So excited to have more of our animals all back together in one place. So thankful for the friends that helped us get them out of out situation and have helped us take care of them since January. It feels good to have more of us back together. Also thankful for the friends that have adopted us and our animals into their family 🥰🐃🐂

That handsome white belt belongs to Levine! He’s half Angus and half Belted Galloway, and he came to Double K for a special reason: Sizzler needed a friend.

Sizzler got sick this spring and wasn’t ready to finish with the cattle he’d grown up alongside. We looked for someone close to his size so they could keep each other company and finish around the same time. That’s how Levine joined the herd. 🤎

🥩 Favorite Beef Cuts: Filet Mignon

Tender, buttery, and mild, filet mignon makes a special dinner feel simple.

How we like to cook it: Pat the steak dry, season with salt and pepper, and sear it in a hot skillet. Add a little butter and rosemary or garlic if you like. Check the thickest part with a meat thermometer, then let the steak rest for at least 3 minutes before slicing.

🐃MEET THE HERD MONDAY: LICORICE 🐃

We brought Licorice home to be a friend for Sizzler, and this sweet heifer quickly made friends with the people, too. She loves to lick anyone who comes to visit—that’s how Halleigh gave her the name Licorice! 😄

Here she is soaking up some attention from Jasper, with her herd close by. She’s affectionate, curious, and such a joy to have at Double K Cattle Company. ❤️
