Friends and Family of Lane's End Farm,
Our dear founder, Liz Aquino, passed away in February. Liz fought cancer valiantly for many long, beautiful years, and for those years, she kicked cancer's ass. She battled with the same strength and tenacity with which she approached life; a hard-won, profound strength we have always appreciated, and will always admire.
Liz and her husband Corey began Lane's End Farm in 1992, with little more than a garden and a great deal of courage. Beginning with organic seedlings and specialty herbs, Liz and Corey transformed their plot of land into a booming business. Over the course of the last 33 years, they have grown tens of thousands of pounds of produce, mentored dozens of young farmers, and touched countless lives.
Through her persistent attendance at farmers markets throughout the Chicagoland area, Liz spread her passion and knowledge of good food and good growing. Her happiest days were spent with her friends and family, sweating in the sun while picking green beans and teaching novice growers how to cultivate perfect heirloom tomatoes.
Liz led a beautiful life, and she spread that beauty everywhere she went. Each of us is so blessed to have had her in our lives. Through her abundant love and charity, and her stubborn determination, she showed that one person can change the world.
Thank you for your long-standing love and support for Liz and Lane's End Farm. You helped Liz achieve her life's goal: planting today for our children's tomorrow. In her honor, we ask that you spread love, and grow.
Our 61st Street market manager, Emily, has generously created a GoFundMe to help Liz's family offset some of her remaining medical expenses. If you would like to donate in her honor, you can find this fundraiser at https://www.gofundme.com/f/donate-to-aid-aquinos-medical-expenses.
