While summer makes everything we love grow, there’s nothing quite like the fall and New England during harvest time

While we are also playing catchup to get all your favorite summer flavors back in stock post injury, we’re excited to get back to making up all your favorite fall flavors too! Just working out how to hold the produce that needs to be prepped before it can get cooked and canned up in our jars and brought to a market near you, but we’ll be announcing each new turning flavor as we’re able to roll them back out… thumb willing of course 👍

With just under a week until the cast comes off, and the plan for OT comes together, we know we don’t have all your favorites in stock, and we’d like to apologize, even if our overwhelmingly supportive understands… it’s hard to have to tell y’all no…

We’re putting together our best plan, pulling the team together, and starting next week will be able to begin the huge undertaking of restocking while folks start their stocking up (it comes as the frost warning edges closer every year).

We know it will take some extra effort, and some patience from you all, and it’s hard to ask for more since you’ve all been so patient over the last two months while I recovered from surgery … we just ask that you continue to understand we’re doing everything we can in the interim to do what we can to poise ourselves for the rush to get back to our standard of bringing you all your favorites

We’re not out of the woods yet, still a few weeks in a cast, and then months of PT, but the light is at the end of the tunnel now

It’s been a busy summer with plenty of ups and downs, but this last week had a down we couldn’t have planned for in the busiest season of the year.
🩻
But, our hometown hospital and friends at Tufts Medicine Lowell General Hospital were able to stitch Humpty Dumpty back up pretty fast 😅
🩻
While inventory and renovations on the new place are suspended, there may be a short interruption in availability of some products, and for that we’re sorry, but as soon as we’re cleared, we’ll be back to everything on our list of to dos and back to business as regular. Until then catch James with me at market proving why you gotta ‘teach your children well’ , cause they grow up fast, and replicate the life you show them, and while I’m half as handy 🤪😝 as I usually am, he’s the perfect rep and set of hands to help, after all, it’ll all be his too soon 🥹

While everyone’s garden and every farm across New England soaks up this well overdue rain, we’re scrolling garden and farm pics to help brighten the day.

This season’s flowers are all being grown specifically for seed as we start to plan for bigger shifts coming to our small business model, and dreams long imagined of stewarding the right price of land.
🌻
For now, we’re using every minute of the day trying to keep all your favorites in stock, capturing every morsel of hyper local fruit for inventory and freezer camp, and squeezing in the necessary improvements to our family’s next space as we get a little closer to the land… but first, a wet market day and then back to the fix it up to do list that’s gotta get wrapped before packing up our family.

Some weeks are more productive than others… this week though… was the pits 😝🤣🤣🤣

Some jokes are classics, and while stemming… washing… pitting… bagging & tagging… and tucking away at freezer camp all the cherries we’ll have for the next year… we also managed to rush a batch out so both sizes of our JamFam fave Dark Sweet Cherry Jam are in stock for the weekend!

Even though we grabbed every cherry we could manage, we know it being a fave there’s no way to ever store enough, being one of the few local producers who keep it and make the time consuming flavor isn’t always easy.
🍒
And we often forget how weather months ago impacts crops year round. We couldn’t be more grateful for another year working with Kimball Fruit Farm for their amazing cherries, but this past springs weird late freeze and frost and snow didn’t help stone fruits a bit, if you haven’t scored your fresh cherries it’s just about you last chance to do so.

And why we’re grateful we got the apron string lesson decade ago on how to preserve them best, so they can be enjoyed year round, a feat that must be planned out when a crop is only around for a couple weeks all year. Grab your fresh cherries from all your favorite farms while you can… before we sn**ch the rest of them up 😜

This porcelain berry bush was loaded after the rain yesterday, and taking a moment to be surrounded by their hum in the warm summer sun reminds us why as busy as we are packing every piece of seasonal fresh local produce into jars and plenty more stored away in order to try to bring you all our artisanal spreads year round

We want to let everyone know that’s it for this week. While we love our grind, and all the things we do to bring you our best, and all of you, family time is import, and the older James gets, the more we realize how few of these holidays we’ll have, especially while he’s this young ❤️

We’ll be back to our full time regular schedule next week, post holiday, and hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday with those closest to you.

If you’re home, and want to be patriotic by supporting local business, the Waltham Farmers' Market is still on 9:30-2pm for holiday hours, and Charles River Farmers Market Sunday 10-3pm (Wakefield Farmers Market (MA) has taken the week off, as has Union Square Farmers Market, back to regular hours next week 7/11).
