I hauled my 1970 (German Diesel) International 826 to Pittsboro today. It has never left Lake County, it was bought new from Don Bales in Lowell by my first employer (Wayne Roffmann) in 1970, I drove it that first year, I was 12. Wayne sold it to our neighbor John Drinski in 1975. I bought it from John when he retired in 1995. In the past 29 years I’m sure it has hauled over 100,000 kids to the pumpkin patch. It was kind emotional leaving the Lowell farm, this old work horse has served us well and hopefully it will continue to do so for many years in Pittsboro.🥲

Well friends tomorrow is a big day! Big Johns Farm Market and Greenhouse will be opening their pumpkin patch at our location. It means so much to us that another local family is going to carry on the pumpkin patch traditional and we hope you're just as excited and grateful as we are. Please remember opening day is never perfect. Even our opening day always had some kind of hiccup and we had been giving hayrides for approximately a million years. Also, there will be tons of familiar favorite fall activities and treats, but there will be changes too (like you won't see or faces there 24/7, but we plan on going for a hayride and getting some donuts still)which we think is great. It's time for someone younger with new ideas to take over. Thank you again for all the years of support and please give Big Johns the same grace, support, and patience you've given us over the years.

Chief Malamatos has gone above the call in her support and leadership for the mission of the Department and the services that are provided to the citizens.
