McPherson Cellars McPherson Cellars is a contemporary winery, tasting room, and event venue in Lubbock, Texas. Our winery and tasting room opened in fall of 2008.

The McPherson family has been a pioneering family in grape growing and wine making in Texas for over 40 years. Our label was created in 2000 to honor the winemaker's father, Dr. Clinton "Doc" McPherson, considered one of the "Fathers" of the modern Texas wine industry. From the beginning, Kim has advocated the importance of growing varieties that best fit Texas terroir and "planting to the land." We focus on Mediterranean and Rhône Valley varieties that he feels are best suited for Texas's climate.

McPherson Cellars is looking for an Events & Tasting Room Assistant Manager to join our team in Lubbock.

You’ll lead our tasting room and help bring our private events, live music, and special programming to life.
If you’re organized, personable, and love hospitality, we’d love to meet you. W**e experience is a plus, but a great hospitality mindset matters most.

Full-time, salaried, with PTO and additional event earning opportunities.

Kim was named the 2025 Gerald W. Thomas Outstanding Agriculturist by Texas Tech’s Davis College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. We’re excited to see this honor celebrated in front of a stadium full of Red Raiders!

🍇Join the Lubbock County Historical Commission as we celebrate the dedication of a Texas Historical Marker honoring Sagmor Vineyard, a pioneering vineyard whose legacy helped shape the Texas w**e industry.

In the 1960s, Clinton “Doc” McPherson planted grapes at Sagmor Vineyard on the Texas High Plains, helping demonstrate that premium w**e grapes could thrive in West Texas. His vision and dedication laid the foundation for the modern Texas w**e industry and continue to influence w**emakers across the state today.

The dedication ceremony will be held at McPherson Cellars, where guests are invited to commemorate this significant milestone alongside members of the community, the Texas w**e industry, and the McPherson family. Join us!

Kiwi, starfruit, and ripe melon flash across the palate, followed by the mouthwatering pucker of a sour green apple ring.
