At times, one just has to sit and sip a spell. If you are ever in the Flint/Burton/Lapeer area and find that you need a cocktail (or 3), do yourself a favor and make your way to the Redline Brewing Co. When you pull up, you think- they distill here?! But yes! And using small, local when available ingredients producers. I have to recommend the strawberries n cream!

Rarely does a patron enjoy a dish so much that they are sad when their plate is almost clean. The course is coming to an end. This is what happens when you are served a dish that you know must be served in heaven. The food at the Wrought Iron Grill in Owosso has always been in a league of its own. However this evening, I ordered a dish that surpassed my expectations. I am talking about the surf and turf penne and cheese. Tips of beef tenderloin is seated upon a bed of penne pasta that is a topped with a smoked gouda cheese sauce. And what is the "surf" portion of this dish you ask? Nestled in the cheese sauce is the king of crustaceans- lobster! The deep flavor of the sauce along with the tender bites of lobster bring this dish alive. The beef, perfectly cooked is both juicy and flavorful. The Wrought Iron Grill is a place that your tastebuds will thank you for visiting. The friendly staff is so helpful and personable. Located in a historic building gives more enjoyment to your next meal out as you learn the past lives of the space. If you have not even at the WIG, now is the time! Ask to be seated in Jordan's section. He will take good care of you and your guests.

Deep in the heart of Ironwood is a small bakery that you could easily pass by but you need to make a point of stopping! Rigonis bakery has been nestled on a side street for over fifty years.
When you step in, you feel the small town cozy feeling. We stopped around 1:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. The door didn't close for long as there were soanu folks coming in and choosing tasty treats to enjoy and of course the king of the UP- the pasty!
We got cookies, apple pie squares, bottle of water, a can of pop, and two pastys for 21.00! You can't get lunch for two people anywhere at that price. One pasty (at time of posting) is only $6.60!

Every bite is filled with quality and care that you only get in a small bakery. The cookies were delicious and not your traditional flavors. While those are available, we chose an almond joy cookie (which was better than the candy bar) and an apple caramel cookie as moist as can be and as big as your face. No pictures as I couldn't wait to devour those. The pasty however, is almost the length of my hand. And stuffed with all the deliciousness and comfort you look for in a pasty. When in Ironwood, do yourself and your wallet a favor and fill your tummy with good things from this off the beaten path treasure!

While we went to enjoy a bit of shopping in this quaint town just outside of Lansing, we stumbled upon Sweetie-licious Bakery Cafe. Everything looks delicious in this retro themed establishment. This far, we have enjoyed the peach raspberry pie and the three cheese and caramelized onion which we got. We are looking forward to diving into the pumpkin cupcake, and brown butter cinna- scone that followed us home. As well as the cookbook by the owner that was picked up as a Christmas gift for me by my companion.
It is on this sweet tooth's bucket list to walk in and say, "I'll take one of each please." And the owner/baker is also a recipient of some impressive awards. Being the winner at TWO national baking contests- makes this place a must try and enjoy!

Beaches, sand dunes, and ice cream! Ludington has lots going for it, but while you are there enjoying some r and r be sure that you get to Jamesport Brewing Company for dinner and cocktails!
As if the friendly staff from the hostess stand, the folks behind the bar and our server wasn't enough to make us want to come back- the food was on point! I ordered the cherry bourbon sirloin with the augratin potatoes. It was beautifully cooked and the sauce was delectable!
Another plate ordered at our table was the ahi tuna. Delicately prepared, the tuna was superb! It takes finesse to cook tuna correctly, and the chef has the talent to execute the dish successfully.

Now let's talk about our appetizer and dessert. Goat cheese bruschetta?! This was something I have not seen on a menu and hope I see more of it. Simple yet elegant this appetizer is tantalizing enough to serve at a wedding cocktail hour yet rustic enough to have with friends on the patio enjoying the sunset.

We ended our meal with the tiramisu. Served in a sundae glass, this was a divine finally to a meal that was a highlight of our day. Light and airy yet tasty enough to satisfy the biggest sweet tooth!

Well done, Jamesport Brewing Company ! You have made your resteraunt a must try for any local or traveler that is looking for an excellent dining experience.

When you are on your way to Harbor Springs, a stop to Bob’s Place is exactly what your tastebuds ordered! If the cool sign out front doesn't pull you in, then the best rueben ever made will! Seriously. I don't care for rye bread, in fact I do everything I can to avoid it. HOWEVER, I will gladly eat it when it is wrapped around the moisture, tender corned beef and succulent sauerkraut. And look at that burger! This burger topped with cole slaw is the reason burgers were invented! The chef puts his seal of approval (and rightly so) on the top with their signature brand. This is a must stop for anybody looking for a friendly place to eat high quality civilized food!

Side note- if you were a girl in the eighties who loved unicorns- ya gotta check out their ladies room!

As if wandering the rolling hills around the peaceful community of Glennie isn't a treat enough, stumbling upon Farnsworth family BBQ was like the cherry on the top of a sundae. Completely understated, the unique mix of bbq and Mexican food is cooked up and served from under a tent in the party store parking lot. Make no mistake though- this culinary experience is worth the detour for any north bound traveler! Never have I had a bacon wrapped jalepeno popper that delicious! Fresh jalepeno with a creamy cheese inside and lovingly wrapped in bacon fresh out of the smoker! And if that's not enough- they use these little gems to make tacos! Yep- nestled in hubby's tacos were these jalepenos hidden by pulled pork so tender it melts in your mouth. And then all the toppings you desire.
I chose the pulled pork macaroni and cheese. I was only able to eat a quarter of the serving but reassured that I will get to enjoy the rest later. Bbq sauce and nacho cheese accented the spiral macaroni and chunks of pulled pork. We were there at 1:30 in the afternoon on a Friday and as we left happy, stuffed bellies and eagerly anticipating the next time we stop there was a line up of other folks who were anxious to enjoy! Spread the word! The jewel of Glennie is Farnsworth Family BBQ!

If you haven't been to Bridge Street Social in DeWitt -you are missing out on a food lover's paradise! The ability to have food prepared locally that is also a thing of beauty makes us very fortunate. This is the type of place to celebrate an anniversary, birthday, or just delicious food. We have done all three there! The attention to detail is on point. No place can compare. My hubby left the table to use the restroom. Immediately someone came and pushed in his chair. Another person came and refolded his napkin. The food is exquisitely prepared. Make a reservation soon. You will thank me. And
your tastebuds will thank you. Below are pictures of what we had tonight. Grilled swordfish with coconut and green apple salsa was what I chose and my husband enjoyed gnocchi with sun dried cream sauce and scallops. I didn't get a picture of the duck lettuce wraps. Frankly, because we devoured them prior to thinking about it.

There is nothing that will fill you with serenity more than getting north of the bridge. However, after crossing and taking in a deep sigh of fresh upper peninsula air you are going to need to satisfy your appetite. The spot to go is The Wild Blueberry for breakfast! The first thing you see when you step in is the array of fresh baked goods luring you to case of scones, cookies, doughnuts, bagels and other delicious treats.

You know you are going to have a tasty breakfast when you see that the table tents advertise flavor of the day pancakes. A different unique flavor for everyday of the week. Smores and Elvis to name just a couple of the flavors. Belgium waffles are topped with a tasty assortment of toppings as well. And there is a lazy Susan on the table of a variety of syrups for you to choose from.

This morning, we chose to enjoy some of their everyday offerings off the menu. The hasbrown casserole was ordered and came with several layers of flavor and topped with French's fried onions!
I chose the mighty Mac eggs Benedict.
Portions were a great size. Before you leave be sure to snag a pasty or two to go and a caramel apple cookie. That is a great afternoon snack because after eating here you can skip lunch! Do yourself a favor and put this place on your list of must dos in the UP! A best kept secret in St. Ignace!

When you are in Traverse City and want something unique and tasty, look no further than Hopscotch Brick Oven and Taproom. While this little place is on 31, it sits away from downtown making a great place to escape the craziness that can be downtown Traverse City. We were in the mood for pizza and decided to try them out. It was a great decision! We decided on a seafood pizza (more on that later) and an gyro pizza. I will say I was a bit skeptical about a seafood pizza but the rest of my group wanted to give it try so I went with it.
Guys- the folks at Hopscotch made me a believer! Seafood on a pizza works with the right ingredients to accompany it.

Two pizzas was the perfect amount to feed three adults. Now, I write this for planning purposes for your visit as only one size is offered and it isn't written on the menu how big they are.

This is where you need to go the next time you are in Traverse City. I'll see you there!
