Howdy Folks! We hope each of you are doing well and have been blessed with the recent, much needed rain. For the past two years we have opened our family-owned pumpkin patch to the public and have been overwhelmed by the support you have showed us. While this post is NOT a goodbye, it is our official announcement to inform you all that we will not have a pumpkin patch this year. This post has been difficult for us to make. In March, my wife lost her father. Thomas was an integral part of starting the patch two years ago. His knowledge on all things agriculture allowed us to be successful. Because we have to get the land prepped and ready for planting in early April, we made the decision to not grow any pumpkins. Before loosing Thomas, we were already concerned with growing pumpkins on the property this year because, as some of you know, we are also a cattle farm. We raise Kemp Angus Farm cattle and our back pastures were scheduled to be root plowed in May thus reducing grazing availability. And thank goodness we made the decision to not plant pumpkins because this drought would have most definitely ruined our crop. Pumpkins require a lot of water. We wish you all a Happy Fall and look forward to welcoming you again soon π§‘π§‘π§‘
