When you reach us at the end of the road, you’ll see a working beef cattle operation totally focused on producing functional, high-performing beef cattle that deliver value under tough, real-world conditions. Great-granddad Jacob ZumBrunnen first homesteaded the ranch in 1888. After working as a professional structural engineer around the country, Mel and Lola bought in, moved permanently to the

ranch in 1975 to raise their family and continue building the registered Angus herd that was started in 1948. Jason and Shirley returned to the ranch with their young family in 2012, after a successful engineering career, to partner in managing the family beef cattle business and to continue the ranch legacy for the next generation. We’re clearly in it for the long haul. We’re excited about the foundation we’ve built and about what the future has in store. Our Angus cows, as a group, are some of the breed’s highest-efficiency females. And we’re featuring a home-grown ZumBrunnen Angus herd.

We like our coffee C23roastingCo.com for sure, but sure makes a pound of beef not look that expensive.

DAY 6 — “$15.83 A POUND?! ☕😳”

Okay, coffee lovers. Don’t come after us. 😂

☕ Starbucks Ground Coffee — approximately $15.83/lb
🥩 Ground Beef — approximately $6.89/lb

Yep.

We willingly pay more than TWICE the price per pound for that bag of coffee.

And I’m not suggesting anyone give up coffee. Let’s not get crazy. 😂☕️

But it sure puts that package of hamburger into perspective, doesn’t it?

Sometimes it isn’t about whether something is “expensive.”

It’s about what we’ve decided is worth paying for.

And we happen to think American beef brings an awful lot of value to the table. 🇺🇸🥩

DAY 2 - “Doritos vs. Ground Beef: TWO CENTS?!” 🔺🥩

This one might surprise you.

🔺 Doritos -approximately $6.87/lb
🥩 Ground Beef -approximately $6.89/lb

A whopping TWO CENTS difference per pound.

But look at a typical serving:

🔺 Doritos: about 150 calories & 2 grams of protein
🥩 3 oz cooked ground beef: roughly 200–230 calories & about 22 grams of protein

We’re not saying you can’t eat the Doritos. 😂 We certainly do.

We’re just asking…

When did $6.89/lb for BEEF become the outrageous thing in the grocery cart?

DAY 3 “Milk Chocolate or Meat? 🍫🥩”

Today’s contender: M&M’s!

🍫 M&M’s -approximately $8.77/lb
🥩 Ground Beef - approximately $6.89/lb

That’s nearly $2 MORE per pound for the candy.

A typical ounce of M&M’s gives you around 1 gram of protein.

A 3-ounce cooked serving of beef gives you roughly 22 grams of high-quality protein, plus iron, zinc, vitamin B12 and other essential nutrients.

Will I stop eating M&M’s? Absolutely not. 😂

But maybe that package of hamburger in the meat case deserves a little more credit.

We’re only on Day 3. Wait until you see what’s next. 👀
