Day 12 - The final push of planting 2026.......started with calf #3 not where he was supposed to be for morning feeding. Surprised me because he came from behind me while I was carrying baled hay. Watched the sunset yet again on the final day of planting. Not gonna lie that last planting pass was a rough one. Tears streaming through the dirt on my face. Bittersweet moment. Went home, parked the tractor, grabbed a beer and went and sat with the babies for awhile. They look like little motorcycles the way they were lined up on the wall. Yet another screenshot as I was scrolling my phone in bed. The algorithm seems to know just when to toss them into my feed.

Day 11 - Started the day looking for calf #3, Turns out he is a very good hider. Had to follow the trails through the tall grass in the pasture NEXT to where they are supposed to be. What a little stinker!! Time to refuel and change the planter over from soybeans to corn for the last two fields at home. Happy to say I did the whole change over completely by myself this time. Even adjusting the gears for the population rate and changing from low speed to high speed. Of course I was given the numbers but the rest was all me. Watched the sunset as I was finishing the second to last field of 2026,

Day 10 - Back in the tractor today but first the dynamic duo turned into the dynamic trio. Baby #3 made his debut. First round is 1 heifer and 2 bulls. Managed to get one field of soybeans planted and the headlines on the next before it got to dark to see. Planting with lights just doesn't work for me. While i was doing the headlines some geese came to visit for a bit.

Day 9 - Little catch up day and was finally able to get the yearling out on grass. They seemed to be enjoying themeselves with some shenanigans.

Day 9 - Caught up to the guys working the fields at home. Spent the day getting caught up on some little things. Checked in on the new baby, Morgan spent some time with Scoot, I drove around to see if any of the fields I had planted had started to come up yet. Dennis always said you should see the seed twice in week. Once in the planter and once coming out of the ground. Well guess what?! I did it! My first field I planted, in corn, was up when I check on it at 8 days!!!! Made my way back home and baby #2 was here. A bull calf this time. Got the yearlings that were still at home out on some green grass finally and watched the sun disappear again after another very full day.

Day 8 - Quick spin arounnd and view of a job well done! Morgan stopped in to check on my handy work and told me that was the cleanest she had ever seen it 🤣. Guess thats what happens when mom cleans......

Day 8 - More firsts for me. Cleaning the cow yard and loading the spreader. Not that I didnt necessarily know how, the kids and Dennis always did it.

Day 8 - Another crash course learning day. Taught myself to haul manure based off what the kids told me.
