Fox Den Farm

Fox Den Farm Fox Den Farm is a small farm run by Amy Trudeau. In August of 2012, I purchased the old Jedidiah Parker homestead in beautiful Lyndeborough NH.

I grow produce using organic practices and am planning on obtaining organic certification for my land. I grow a large array of vegetables and also sell seedlings in the spring grown in my two greenhouses. I have a flock of chickens and ducks, about 25 birds total. I feed the birds certified organic grain and they forage in the fields. I am trying to make an honest living off the land and invite t

he public to come and see what I am up to. In the 2014 growing season, I will be selling my produce/plants/eggs at the Peterborough, Fresh Chicks, and New Boston farmers markets. Please contact me for more information at [email protected] or by calling me at (603) 554-5596. Live free, grow free.

Csa families....

You are welcome to pick out some plants, fill a tray if you desire. No cost to you, just see it as an early addition to your csa shares. By appointment only, as in please text me before you come here. Any time this week is fine as long as I'm around and I never really stray far though i do need to take down plant sale signs and get some supplies at Brookdale in the next few days. 603-554-5596

Anyone else who would like to purchase some plants, you can text me as well. I won't have any official open hours this week as I have some serious farming to do.

Photo shows my favorite lettuce variety, Rouxai. You know you want some!

I'll try to get a text or email out to Csa families about picking out some plants, much easier to just write this out quickly.

Good morning! My plant sale is open today 10 to 4. Its pouring right now but looks to be done by 11. I will restock plants in a little bit. Yesterday I pulled plants out of the greenhouses as needed for folks. I can do that today too, just ask if you don't see something, if I have enough to spare I can bring some out.

Photos are the only one I took during the rush on Saturday, thats my neighbor Leslie in the front, and my winter rye out in the back field, very happy for the rain it is receiving.

Thank you so much for your support in both this plant sale and my sale 2 weeks ago. Tomorrow morning I wake up and am a full time vegetable farmer, lots and lots of plants to get in the ground! If I can swing another weekend, a greenhouse clean out type of sale, I will let you know here. If you could not make it over this weekend, I can be open

*******by appointment only*******

as I have a lot of farming to do and am not always within earshot of the front field.

Any questions about plant availability, please message me or text at 603 554 5596

Just shot these photos. Lots of plants to choose from still. There are a lot of cool weather crops, sold out of mostly the warmer weather crops. Smaller fruited tomatoes are under the tents: clementine, juliet, gardeners sweetheart, green zebra, aosta valley, peacevine, black cherry, red pearl and blush. A lot of my favorites to eat- juliet, green zebra, aosta valley and clementine are my personal favorite tomatoes.

Outside are: Lillian's yellow, yellow Brandywine, ruby gold, premio, jet star and Cherokee purple. In 4packs, i have 3 varieties of paste tomatoes.

Theres a few summer squash and cukes remaining. I can grab more from the greenhouses but they're happier inside today. Its cool, and I'd rather them stay happy. Just ask if you're looking for something thats not out.

Lots of the herbs remain and there is a wonderful selection of lettuce, kale, chard, broccoli and other cool weather crops In the rows closest to the road.

If you dont feel like trekking over today, I will be here tomorrow as well, 10 to 4.

Thank you for showing up for me yesterday! The first few hours were the busiest it has ever been! My wonderful friend Heather was such an incredible help, keeping the line going, adding up what was in your trays, getting all my sharpies back! She is a beautiful presence and I love that she enjoys helping me out. Thanks to Matt for making all my signs. People love them, all the plant description signs, so much more information than what a little plastic plant label could hold.

I am open today and tomorrow 10 to 4. Its not raining yet, maybe showers will just pass through and there will be drier hours. I did a tiny bit of reorganization with the plants last night but my 3:15 wakeup had me pretty wasted so I have more to do. Still lots of plants left, a wonderful variety of food and flowers for your gardens. I will make a post later on what I still have. Moving more slowly this morning, feeling chilly. Tired. Feel free to text me, 603-554-5596 with any questions about availability of plants.

I have this fantasy about adding live music in the future, we should all start harassing Old Crow Medicine Show to come play my farm. Or Xavier Rudd, but unlikely he will come to the US again under the current leadership. Local music would be great too but why not reach for the stars?

Thank you again to everyone who chose to support my little farm and my massive dream yesterday.

Rosemary really enjoyed all the good smells from all the folks who came by.

Fox Den Farms 7th annual Plant sale!

Opens today at 10!

Saturday May 23 through Monday May 25
10 AM to 4 PM

1857 2nd NH Turnpike in Lyndeborough NH. GPS will probably say my address is in New Boston as New Boston delivers my mail. My farm is located in the northeastern corner of Lyndeborough, 5 minutes to the Francestown village. 18 minutes to the Amherst village and Milford oval areas, 25 minutes to Peterborough. 40 minutes or so from Manchester. The 2nd NH Turnpike is an old toll road from the horse and buggy days, originally stretching from Amherst to Claremont. In Francestown the sign will say 2nd NH Turnpike South and in Mont Vernon the sign will say Francestown Turnpike. Its all the same road.

Cash and checks only please. Prices are as follows: 4-cell packs are $5. 5 centimeter biodegradable pots are $2. 8 centimeter biodegradable pots are $4. Full trays of sunflowers are $30. All 128 cell trays are $30.

Everything is grown and loved by me, Amy Trudeau. I grow all of my plants in organic Vermont Compost Co potting soil and feed them with organic Neptune's Harvest fish and seaweed fertilizers. All of my seeds are from Fedco and Johnnys.

I have 92 varieties of plants available this weekend at the sale! Please see previous posts for photos of the lists of what I have. I run a CSA and these are all the same varieties i grow for my farm. I have not sprayed with anything that kills anything, only foliar sprays of Neptune's Harvest.

Today looks to be the best weather of the 3 days. I will be outside under my tent potting up plants all weekend, rain or shine. Gate opens at 10 each morning and I will close up at 4 to reorganize plants, give my puppy some love and spend time with my son.

I am a single mama running a farm by myself. I have been working 80 to 90 hours a week to prepare for this sale and get plants in the ground for my farm. Working with plants is my passion, you will see it when you come here. All plant varieties have a descriptive label in front of them. Plants are not individually labeled as I only use 1 wooden label per tray. I have locally sourced birch wood plant labels and extra fine point sharpies available to write your own labels, let's be part of the revolution to get rid of plastic plant labels!

The best selection is when I first open at 10 today. Some varieties I have just a few trays of, others I have more to restock as needed. My greenhouses are not open during the sale, all of my plants for my farm are in them. The sale is outside, rain or shine.

I would love your support!

Just finished row covering. I will make a shareable post in the morning with all the plant sale info. Please help a sister out by sharing the post and telling your friends and family about my plant sale. It took 3 hours each way to carry everything in and out last night and this morning. I'm beat.

I have my rough draft complete for the plant sale. I open Saturday at 10! Tomorrow I will make a shareable post with my address, pricing, etc. If you can share the post and tell your friends, I would really appreciate it. Plant sale is Saturday through Monday, 10 to 4.

I didn't do a total tray count yet but I know this is the biggest I've made it. My quick count was 92 varieties of plants. I have a very high fear of cold temperatures overnight so soon I will start carrying in trays into a high tunnel, better safe than brokenhearted in the morning. Cool weather crops will stay outside. I will bring everything out tomorrow and pound in the 92 tomato stakes for the plant description signs. Prices are same as last sale: 4 cell packs are $5, 5 centimeter pots are $2 and 8 centimeter pots are $4. I also have a sunflower corner, thats all by the tray. I have a lot of them so am pricing accordingly to move them into your gardens and spread my love of sunflowers throughout the land! Sunflowers trays are all $30 a tray. There are both 128 cell trays and trays with 48 plants in 4 cell packs.

The last 7 photos are what I have. I have more trays of some of the varieties as well. Just to get it out before everyone asks where it is, a few varieties of basil are showing signs of fungal disease and were not potted up. No genovese, mammoth or Thai. I do have purple and lemon. Each circled number is how many trays I have.

I would love your support over the weekend.

Progress so far. I still have lots of the the 8 centimeter tomatoes, all the cucumbers, squash and a few other herbs and flowers to bring out. Im out of pallets so will borrow them from a greenhouse. It is very windy and still hot, though yesterday was hotter. And there is a chance of frost tomorrow night here. I've been here long enough to know to be prepared. A few years back it was like this too, the frost in late May. I'll be putting on some miles ferrying the plants around. Thankful I'm not opening until Saturday this time. I just took all the photos and there's a screenshot from NOAA. Last few photos show the reality of the wind. It has been so drying for the plants, lots of watering the last few days.

My friend Matt was going to print new signs for the plant sale... but the sign printing machine at work broke Monday morning. He printed me vinyl stickers and brought them over yesterday to re-use old signs. About to put some signs up around the towns. I'm not very good at getting the stickers on straight and not bumpy.

Spread the word for my plant sale please! This Saturday through Monday, 10 AM to 4 PM. More info coming as I set up!!

Good morning! I have been potting up plants as quickly as I can. Yesterday was peppers, over 2,000 now in 4 cell packs, but didn't get to them all. I hope they have grown in by Saturday. Tuesday will be my cutoff for potting up for the plant sale next weekend, so they have several days to grow in. The VT Compost soil is magic, the plants use the nutrients quickly. Today I will pot up the rest of the herbs and flowers.

Yesterday I got my new shed! New to me, at least. Where it goes and how i run power to it remain to be seen, it is my new packing shed for veggies. My very helpful dad picked it up for me, I found it on Marketplace. A few minutes after he left, a big 'ol gust of wind came in, it was a very windy day. The tent i was working under, weighted by 4 cement blocks, was lifted up and thrown into the front of the high tunnel. Alls well, I was right there to deal with it. Didn't even lose any plants though the tent is crumpled. Its always something. All the other tents now have 70 lbs on each post weighing them down, I doubled up on the cement blocks.

The next several days are going to be very hot, not good weather for me to plant my veggies in the field. Good weather to stand under a tent, a different one, to keep potting up.

More updates coming as I work, set up, play with plants and enjoy the beauty of the beautiful Crabapple in full bloom that I get to look at all day while working.
