This was a fantastic opportunity for women who already are in the industry (from being "in the trenches" to working in an office setting trying to assist with orders).
I highly recommend that if you be thinking of a lady you know, who is in or interested in this field, to consider investing in your investment, and sending them to the next offering.
Over 20 years in the industry, literally 'in the trenches' on up, in a predominantly male working environment, it can be intimidating at times. The fact is, that we NEED PEOPLE in the trades, and we should be encouraging everyone to consider learning and joining the force.
Women are not physically as strong as many men, but you learn to work smarter and not harder. Most of us in this industry are here to make a difference, every day... it isn't "just a job." If you enjoy what you do, then it doesn't always seem like "work."
I encourage and challenge the well drilling, pump service/installation and plumbing companies that are members here, to step up and look at how we can expand not only our company but the future of our industry. Embrace welcoming women in (it is not a "feminist thing" it is a work force and making a difference thing).
When a manufacturer embraces offering training, that is an amazing tool that you all should be maximizing the potential of. When that/those manufacturers expand that to offering women a chance to get exposure and WANT to learn instead of being told, or meant to feel that this "isn't their place," you should do everything to combat that.
We as employers in this industry are responsible to cultivate more to come in, be a part of, make a career out of and excel at what they do.
We are part of one of THE MOST IMPORTANT industries, because WATER 💧 IS LIFE!
