We try to mow around the fence lines and waterways at the end of each season to clean up the fields and keep weeds and brush from creeping into crop areas. Never thought I’d have such great weather to be doing this on December 1.

Perfect day for River Valley Cooperative to spread a little P&K fertilizer. Everything we apply is variable-rate spread to ensure the right amount of nutrients are applied to the right acres.

The sun is about to finally set on the 2021 harvest. This one has drug on way longer than hoped for, though we were blessed with good yields (where standing) and a safe season. Every year brings new challenges and opportunities.

Had a cool visitor in the field yesterday while we whittled away at a bunch of down corn.

Lori Nelson and the kids made it out for a little combine time today, which made an otherwise frustrating day of down corn and a plugged combine much better. Everyone agrees that the down corn isn’t much fun, but Kalli and Asher still got their wheel time in and still did pretty well.

That’s a wrap on soybean harvest. The weather hasn’t cooperated much the last few weeks, but just enough to get wrapped up tonight. Bring on the corn!

Just something fun about unloading a wagon into an auger. We get to do a little of that each year during our custom work.

Got Martin Ruthaivilavan some grain cart seat time in the dark last night. When everything is clicking it takes about 90 seconds to load the semi.

Bin pad is ready for building on and the pit for the drive over conveyor is poured. Next week we hope to finish concrete work for the overhead load out and approaches and get some construction going. 3 weeks until harvest begins, so it’s time to move!

Could have used this 3 weeks ago, but we’ll take it however we can get it. Thankfully the bin pad cap got poured early today and mostly set up before the rain came in.

A little slow on the pics, but upon my return from a couple baseball/softball events I see the old concrete foundations have been removed. With the exception of the Harvestore, this means we have completed removal and demolition and are now entering the construction phase. Hoping things start to change quick - harvest is 2 months or less away!

That’s 4 bins, 2 roof augers, 5 downspouts, 1 grain leg, 2 load out augers, and 3 transition augers removed in the last couple of weeks. Still have a Harvestore to remove and then demo of the foundations, which was set to begin today, but much-needed rain has held off.

Will have a whole new look when completed.

And the third bin is almost down. Crews have been progressing rapidly this week. The remainder of spouting, augers, and our old wet leg were taken down yesterday, too. Making way for the future!
