How much better could this industry be if more people remembered what this was really supposed to be about?

Because yes, we all want to win.
We want the banners.
The buckles.
The backdrop pictures.
The validation that the hard work paid off.

But at the end of the day, the greatest thing this industry produces was never meant to be livestock.

It’s people.

Young people who learn responsibility before most adults do.
Who learn how to lose gracefully.
How to work when they’re tired.
How to care for something besides themselves.
How to shake hands.
How to be humble.
How to keep showing up.

And the truth is, if we sacrifice those things in the pursuit of winning… then we missed the point completely.

The best stock show families aren’t just building champions in the ring. They’re building good humans outside of it too. 💙

Helpful tips for those of you navigating the American Maine-Anjou Association registration process! Always helpful to have a few tips and tricks when you get in the thick of things.

New to the Digital Beef Registration software and need help registering an animal? No worries - we can help with that!

Step 1: Log into the Digital Beef registration system (https://maine-anjou.digitalbeef.com/index.php)

Step 2: Once logged in, navigate to the "Register Calves" option on the left hand side of the screen under Herd Mgmt.

Step 3: Once that window opens you will need to enter the calf registration information including:
- Tattoo
- Birthdate
- S*x
- Service Type
- Dam Registration Number
- Sire Registration Number
- H/P/S (Horned/Polled/Scurred)
- Color
- CE (Calving Ease)
- Twin Code
- Animal Name

Once that information is entered, select the button that says "Validate". The system will tell you if there are any errors. If there aren't any, you can complete the registration by clicking "Commit To Registry". Congratulations you have successfully completed the registration. Don't forget to pay your balance on your account and the registration papers will be mailed to you.

4 Tips for Effective Udder Scoring
--
1. Collect within 24 hours of calving
2. Use weakest quarter to score both teat size and udder suspension
3. Score both teat size and udder suspension on 1–9 scale, independently
4. Best if one person scores all females in each management group
