When its offically the 'Ber' months and you are working on your witchcraft, I mean canning tomatoes 🤭, all day on the front porch.

All while thunder and lighting storms move in and out of the area.

Maybe im making tomato sauce, maybe im casting spells along with the lighting strikes. I'll never tell. 🌩🧙‍♀️😝😜

Just the start of getting wood stacked here for winter. We go through a LOT of wood. (This is the heat source for both the shop, and our home) what you see here, would last us about 3 days in a really cold snap of weather. 🫣 Sooo if you've ever been here, and seen our VERY eye appealing stacks of wood a long the driveway, it's literally because we NEED it. Dan figures we go through about 3 semi loads of wood a winter. 😶‍🌫️

He normally cuts it (chainsaw) as he loads the stoves so he can just throw a few big chunks in and call it. All these smaller ones are for me for if he is sick, busy, or not home to do it. No chainsaws for me and also I just cant physically chuck the giant ones into the stove like he does. These ones, I can handle. 😅

Can you tell the apple pie I made late last night at hubby's request bubbled over in the oven. 🫣🫢🤫

Making lasagna for dinner tonight and pre-heating the oven = burning off last of last night's spill. Soooo windows open, fans on. 🤣

Also enjoy the flour covered table because once I started making homemade noodles it has pretty much been a requirement any time I make something that has noodles. I still have a stash of store bought noodles on hand for when I dont have time, and obviously macaroni noodles because I dont have a way to make those. 😅

BTW, ran out of my giant 50lb bags of flour from the Amish store and had to go back to a store bought flour and nothing tastes as good. 😭 Sadness. Guess I'll have to be making a road trip soon!

We got the first batch of tomato sauce cooked down and canned last night! 14 quart jars, and they all sealed. 🥰

Hoping for many many more to come yet, and thanks to the hoop house at mom's we have a nice extended growing season for the tomatoes so we will be getting them for awhile yet!

Busy day on the homestead. We've been tackling projects all morning, and at now we are working on making some bread, shredding zucchini to put in the freezer, and cooking down tomatoes sauce to can either today or tomorrow.

Last two days the kiddos and I spent a good amount of time organizing, restocking wood, and then stacking 'new' wood into the shed.

What projects have you been up to this week?

That magical feeling when your all your jars from two afternoons of canning sealed. 🥰💃

I have basil in the dehydrator, and im going to start working on cooking down tomatoes to can later today. We are down to 6 jars of tomatoes left from last year so this is right on time!

I think im gonna pop on an audio book (have about an hour left of When The Moon Hatched) and start getting the root cellar sorted as there is going to be LOTS of canning going on for the next few months.

Rainy and dramatic start to the day this morning!!!

Just me wrangling cows into the horse pasture for the night so they can eat it down a bit.

All while trying to avoid being mauled to death by the bottle calves. 🤣😂🤣

Life around here sure doesn't ever get boring.
