Babcock Institute for International Dairy Research and Development

As a consequence of the elimination of federal funding through USDA Special Grants, the Babcock Institute for International Dairy Research and Development will suspend its operations as of December 31. Since 1991, the Babcock Institute has coordinated outreach programs, hosted international visitors, developed training materials, and fostered research partnerships with individuals and organizations in more than 80 countries. Priceless relationships have been established and nurtured, and the Institute has built connections between UW-Madison, Wisconsin farmers and agribusinesses, Wisconsin government offices, and the global dairy industry. to '05: The first of many Sino-US Dairy Research and Development Seminars is held in Beijing, China. More than 180 participants attended. The workshop included technical presentations and on-farm workshops by UW-Madison and Chinese professors. to ’97: A great partnership began between the Cochran Fellowship Program and Babcock Institute. Babcock Institute was able to host over 50 participants from 16 different countries to provide customized training from world-renowned animal and food-related faculty from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences as well as UW-Extension experts.
