As a farmer’s wife, I’ve seen more close calls than I ever care to count—especially on State Road 6.
Every time my husband, our family, or another farmer pulls a tractor or piece of equipment onto the road, I find myself praying they’ll make it to the next field and back home safely.
Please, when you see flashing amber lights, slow down.
Those lights are there for a reason.
Don’t speed around farm equipment or the es**rt vehicles with their flashers on. You have no way of knowing if they’re about to make a wide turn into a field or driveway. Passing on a solid yellow line isn’t just illegal—it’s a gamble with someone’s life.
The few seconds you might save aren’t worth the heartbreak that could follow.
That person driving the tractor is someone’s husband. Someone’s wife. Someone’s son or daughter. Someone’s mom, dad, grandparent, or grandchild.
They’re not trying to inconvenience you. They’re simply doing their job—working long, hot days to provide for their families and to produce the hay, feed, fiber, and crops that keep our communities going.
Whether you realize it or not, every single one of us is connected to agriculture in some way.
The next time you come up behind farm equipment, please choose patience over passing.

Wait until it’s safe and legal.
🏡Help make sure everyone gets home to the people waiting on them.
Because at the end of the day, no bale of hay, no field, no meeting, and no destination is more important than a life.
