Jerad has been busy doing field work- plowing, discing, and planting. He has the the hay/pasture area all planted, next up is corn. He built his own roller that he was able to use for the first time this weekend.

The girls spent the weekend at a Kirk Stierwalt cattle showmanship clinic, we learned so much about showing cows!

Thanks so much to Jay Szymczak for helping with field work this weekend!

We've gotten behind on posts, it's been busy!

Unfortunately Barbs calf died on Saturday. We tried hard to save her but were unable to do so.

Daisy's calf also got sick, but not as bad. After a few days we had her up and feeling better, but she is blind in both eyes. We think it may be from infection since she wasn't blind initially. We are currently bottle feeding her and trying to decide what the plan is for her in the future since she won't be able to be out on our bigger pastures this summer.

Some good news- Daffodil, our fair cow, had a bull calf on Monday.

Only 3 left to go which is good- we're ready to be done!

Numbers 19 and 20

Barb had number 19 on Tuesday, a heifer. She couldn't figure out how to nurse and wouldn't take a bottle so we gave her colostrum via a tube down her throat. This morning she was cold, had diarrhea, and very little energy. We treated her diarrhea, put on a jacket to warm her up, and tubed a bottle of electrolytes into her for dehydration. Later today she'll get another bottle of colostrum if she hasn't eaten- hopefully she'll be feeling better by this afternoon 🤞
