Baby Violet's first shearing!

Shearing is vital for the alpacas health and wellbeing and the first shearing is especially crucial because it sets the tone for future expectations.

We take every care to make sure baby Violet is low stress and handled lovingly and carefully.

This first shearing is called "Cria Tipping".

The name reveal is finally here… 💜🦙

During Alpaca Farm Days, we held a naming contest for Sarah’s new baby girl, and you all gave us SO many good suggestions!

We even had “Oreo” suggested THREE different times. 😂

But here’s the funny part…

Our favorite name wasn’t actually one of the names suggested. Whoops! 🤭

While we were going through all of the entries, one name caught our attention — the name of the person who made a suggestion.

Violet.

And just like that, it felt perfect. 💜

So thank you, Violet, for accidentally helping us name our newest little girl!

Welcome home, sweet Violet. We think the name fits her perfectly.

Thank you again to our friends at Black Barn Alpacas | Maryland’s Premier Alpaca Farm

Our alpacas love spending their days grazing in the back pasture, especially beneath the cool shade of the cedar trees. 🌲🦙

Those cedar trees are more than just part of the scenery here at Rolling Oak—they’re part of our story.

The large cedar post in our back room was actually felled right here on the farm. Over the years, that room has served many purposes—storage, a party room, an event space, and now primarily a workshop where we make our Alpacalets.

We love that a little piece of the farm itself lives inside the barn, quietly holding up a space that has grown and changed right along with us. ❤️

Shocker is 7 weeks old now!

He is so cute and his favorite things to do are play with his best friend, Lancelot, and nap 🫶

Here is the original story from his birth:

🦙🌞"This is Summer Shocker.

Shocker decided to be born on the hottest day of the year.

His mother's name is Summer Fling.

Summer Fling had a fling last summer when a gate was left open.

Summer Shocker is the result of a Summer Fling.

Shocker and Summer are both doing great!

We don't usually breed for middle of the summer babies, but Summer Fling and Splendinator had other ideas 🙈

14.2 pound boy

Welcome to the herd handsome man!"

Born August 16th
