August 😮‍💨 arguably the hardest month for most veggie farmers in the Northeast...

Its hot, we're tired, on the verge on burning out and markets begin to dwindle.

The struggle of harvesting summers bounty, fighting weeds, and seeding and transplanting for fall and winter crops is real. Its a crucial time to push through, as the window for seeding and growing fall/winter crops dwindles with every passing week.

Today we seeded the first round of fall veggies! We'll continue seeding and transplanting through September moving into the high tunnels the later into the year we move.

Let's talk silage tarps!

One way we keep weeds suppressed, and encourage biology to work is by using silage tarps. We cover the ground with silage , after mowing off a crop and let biology eat the crop residue.

Here you can see after a few months of being covered the beds are ready for fall planting!
