I feel this T-shirt is maybe relevant this morning to some parents, but we can’t say thank you enough to all the support from our bidders and buyers on the sale last night. It is appreciated more than you know!

We have calves going to New Mexico, Tennessee, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Idaho, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa.

Lot 24 is ready to see all the Iowa/Iowa State fans this weekend at the barn on Saturday to look at cattle, and enjoy the game. Barn will be open all weekend. Come see us!

The Delaware County Fair is approaching fast. We weigh in animals one week from Tuesday. I will be taking orders again this year for people to purchase 1/4, 1/2, or whole cattle at the sale. I am also willing to purchase whole hogs, sheep and goats for anyone as well. We will be sending everything to the Earlville locker for processing, and you would be responsible for paying for the processing and communicating what cuts of meat you would like. The locker in Earlville has been wonderful to work with, and their product is great. We have worked with people all over the country to make this happen in the past.

The beef will weigh between roughly 1250-1500 lbs at the sale. You can expect to get roughly 600-700 lbs of edible meat from one calf that would weigh 1500 lbs. My best guess would be the market price for beef at the auction Saturday morning may inch up towards $3.00-ish. Our fair is supported unbelievably and has trended roughly $1 over the market historically. If you spent $4500 on a calf weighing 1500 lbs, and you get 650 lbs of meat, you would be spending just under $7.00 per pound, plus the processing.

Some local advertised prices from local grocers this week:

Choice sirloin $7.98 per pound
Choice rump roast $4.99 per pound
93% lean ground beef $6.99 per pound
Choice NY strips $9.99 per 8 oz.
Choice Ribeye $13.99 per 8 oz.

In short, You’re essentially getting all your steaks for hamburger price by supporting local youth, and you know exactly where your product came from here in Delaware County. Today is the day. Excited to have some fun tonight, but have to admit, I can’t take my mind off Leighton Weber, Jordan Weber and their family. This young man is just one local example of why we are doing this. Absolutely heart wrenching.

Are you aware that less than 2% of funding raised in this country to fight cancer goes towards pediatrics and the youth of our country? These kids are fighting this awful disease and still trying to develop their bodies and organs. It takes a different approach than adults that are fully developed humans. The funds raised tonight will all go to the University of Iowa hospital to help Leighton, and any other youth that have these circumstances. Although these funds tonight don’t go directly to Leighton, they may directly help him in his fight with your help.

I can’t say thank you enough to the committee that helped me bring this dream to life the past two years. Staci Schiltz Molly Brouillette Julie Woods Kinsey Meyer. If you ever need to get anything done in your life, make sure and get these guys on your leadership team. So grateful for your big selfless, servant hearts ladies.
