HE'S BACK!! 🎙️

The Farm Boy Foodie himself, Phil Meyer, is BACK on Beyond the Plate with Carol!

You may know him as the man behind the New Hampshire Eats Facebook group, but there's SO much more to his story!

From growing up on a dairy farm in Iowa to serving in the Air Force, building a community of New Hampshire food lovers, and giving back through Nourish New England -- Phil has quite the story to tell!

And since this is a REDO of his first interview, you KNOW Carol had plenty more to ask him! 😂

A stray named Droplet sat at the Manchester Animal Shelter for months until his original family walked in and recognized him from the shelter’s website. Hannah Hurley shares the story of how they reunited and how Droplet reacted when he saw them again.

Every dog at the Manchester Animal Shelter has a story, and --Reader's Digest-- has one of the best.

Hannah Hurley, Director of Operations, shares how he came in after being hit by a car and spending about a week on the run in Manchester. Granite State Dog Recovery worked hard to catch him, and when he arrived he had wounds and trouble walking. Working with their veterinarian, the team decided a wheelchair was his best shot.

They posted a fundraiser on Facebook and had the money in a few.... HOURS!!

Today he's thriving with one of the shelter's volunteer fosters and almost running in his chair. He's heartworm positive, so he'll finish a few months of treatment before he goes up for adoption, but he can stay right where he is until then 💜

No restaurant this week -- I went to the Manchester Animal Shelter, and you have to hear these stories!!!

On October 23 there is going to be a twister at Manchester Country Club!!
A red carpet first, then the twister, then a ballroom done up as the Emerald City. It's the Wizard of Pawz Gala for Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter, and I went to the shelter to find out what it pays for.
-- The city gives the shelter roughly $95,000 a year. It costs about $1.2 million to run. Judie Brown and the board raise the rest.
-- Last year's gala helped pay for phase one of the new building. I got the tour. This year's pays for phase two.
-- One cruelty case kept a dog in limbo for more than two years and cost about $25,000. Michael Constance explains why.
-- A dog named Reader's Digest needed a wheelchair. Hannah Hurley says they had the money within a few hours.
Tickets are $200, a table of 10 is $1,500, and they are still looking for sponsors and auction items. I'm going. Get yours at manchesteranimalshelter.org and come find me.
