BAXTER BLACK
1945 — 2022

Our world momentarily stopped turning yesterday as Baxter Black, DVM, poet, sage and lover of all things cowboy left this world surrounded by family and friends.

Baxter Black carved his initials on all of our hearts since he started writing and speaking to us in the early 1980s. On January 5, 2022, his last column was published.

He’d been under home hospice care since January, 2022, due to a progressive form of dementia and a blood leukemia.

Our hearts go out to his beautiful wife and muse, Cindy Lou and quite frankly, every single one of us who’s life he touched with his impish smile, wry wit, practical intelligence and deep doses of the bittersweet realities that come with life with horses and cows.

He was one of a kind and we were all blessed to know him.

Heartfelt condolences, Cindy Lou. Thank you for sharing him.
