Successful pasture rotation this weekend. The grass is still as green and thick and for mid July in the Kansas heat, that makes us pretty happy! The rut is right around the corner so the bulls are chowing down and gaining weight to prepare for energy expenditure during breeding season. The calves are fat and happy and all the moms are being rockstars, as usual. So thankful!

Today was a full circle moment- we just restocked our online meat inventory with bison who were born and raised their entire lives on our ranch 🤠
🦬Our foundation herd arrived from SD in 2022, they were bred for the first time in 2023, had their calves on our ranch in 2024, and those animals were raised and harvested by us in 2026.
🦬They’ve never seen the inside of a trailer, and they ate only our Flint Hills grass. It was bittersweet to harvest them, but knowing how and where they were raised makes it all worth it.

If you look closely you can see a couple of calves running with the herd at less than a week old. It’s amazing how quickly they get this strong and fast- part of what keeps these young ones safe in the wild and one of the many reasons bison are so resilient!
