You won’t find us at the farmers market this weekend ‘cause we’re off to the big city. We’re headed to the Pipeline Innovators Gala, a celebration of entrepreneurship, innovation, and the achievements of founders in the Midwest.

Last year, Ryan walked up on stage at the Kansas City Planetarium to tell the story of Ancient Ocean Beef Co. as part of a pitch competition with an audience of industry leaders, investors, and fellow entrepreneurs. Charley Crockett’s $10 Cowboy provided swaggering walk up music!

This competition capped off a year of immense learning and growth as part of Pipeline’s Pathfinder program for early stage entrepreneurs. Taking part in this program, as Ryan will attest, was one of the most impactful experiences of our small business journey. With your support, we’re building a sustainable business that provides healthy food and helps to conserve and regenerate one of the most endangered ecosystems on the planet. Thanks to Pipeline, and thanks to all of you.

We couldn’t have asked for more pleasant weather on the prairie with these two friends and fellow cattlemen who also care about regenerative agriculture, animal husbandry, prairie stewardship, and good beef: Nate from Stucky Family Ranch and Pat from PJ’s Meats.

With birds chirping all around us, we spent the morning up in the hills, chatting about grazing and habitat management, and testing some new cattle assessment technology. After lunch in a nearby small town, we wove our way through northern Flint Hills to Pat’s place, nestled near a flowing spring, where we were greeted his by charming pigs and baby goats.

By eating local and thinking regeneratively, we all can help support food producers and land stewards like these. See you at the MHK farmers market on Saturdays from 8am-1pm!

Saturdays are now market days. Come see us at the Downtown MHK Farmers Market from 8am–1pm for prairie-friendly beef and farm fresh eggs.

Since this is our first season at the market, we may not be in the exact same spot each week—so you might have to wander a bit to find us.

Spring in the Flint Hills is almost here. It’ll be warm and sunny tomorrow, dip down low again, then shoot up into the 80s next week.
