Long overdue update! 🐝🍯

Our new processing kitchen has been up and running for a little over a month now, and it’s made processing so much faster. Still more room for optimization, but we’re getting there!

Side note: if you have an active order, we are working to fill it! Honey flow has been a bit wonky this year, as many of our fellow beekeepers have noticed too.

We strive to get orders shipped or delivered within 72 hours, but right now we’re in a holding pattern while we wait for honey to come back in stock. Please bear with us while we let the bees do their beautiful work. 🐝

KSU is offering some really cool expericnees and free tickets and we wanted to ensure as many people know about it as possible.

A nectar dearth is a crucial late summer or early autumn period marked by a significant lack of blooming, nectar-producing flowers. During this time, foragers find it difficult to gather food outside the hive.

Are you interested in honey extraction services? Not sure how to get your honey from the hive? Whether your hives are new or established, we've got you covered!

Our mobile extraction service brings the equipment right to your property. We’ll extract your honey on-site and return it to you the same day, either in your buckets or ones purchased from us.

Why do we come to you? It's to comply with the latest cottage laws under the house bill, which require honey to be extracted on the owner’s premises.

This way, you stay fully in compliance while we use two 18-frame extractors, and a third 9-frame if needed, to speed up the process. Just drop off your medium frames, and we’ll handle the rest, returning buckets of delicious honey back to you.

While traveling abroad and exploring sights across multiple countries, I can't help but seek out fellow beekeepers. In Austria, I met with family whose friend is a beekeeper; in France, I visited a woman who sells honey and products in a small shop in a beautiful wine country town (of course, we sampled the honey and wine); in Switzerland, I checked out a local market with honey producers; and when I return to Germany, I plan to find more.

My goal is not only to learn how they manage their bees but also to collect samples wherever I travel, with some for personal use and testing through the American Honey Institute.

I've also learned that in Australia, they use spider venom to effectively eliminate varroa from hives. While still in development, I believe that in the next few years, we will see targeted, non-pesticide treatment methods to manage varroa and support bee populations worldwide.

In the meantime, here is a picture of one of the views of my travels.

 During today's inspection, we noticed two bees outside, their wings bitten off.
I’m curious, what do you think caused this?
