Bourbon Red Heritage Farms, LLC Bourbon Red Heritage Farms is an egg to table farm known for its Bourbon Red and Narragansett Turkeys, known for their succulent, especially dark meat.

Our heritage turkeys are humanly raised and processed by State Law standards. Price $5.50 per lb. Bourbon Red Heritage Farms is a project of Joel Raddatz, and Nick Jaskiw. Nick Jaskiw and I started our farm four years ago because we love to eat great food, and were dissatisfied with the bland, mushy taste of Broad Breasted White Turkeys that are almost exclusively sold in Grocery stores around the

country. The whites are genetically engineered to grow fast, fed antibiotics to tolerate filth, are too grotesque to breed (must be artificially inseminated) and too dumb to get out of the rain! And on top of it, we have almost forgotten what turkeys are supposed to taste like because the whites overwhelm the market. We raise Bourbon Red and Narragansett Turkeys. Both are fed food that mimics that of wild turkeys which by the way, they challenge all spring. Our Toms readily mate with our hens and our poults are hatched on our farm. We are egg to table, not farm to table! We also are very supportive of the work of others like us who are trying to bring back marketable numbers of heritage breeds, and improve them through diet and selective breeding to their former glory. This year’s birds are beauties, and will produce memorable feasts for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Our Story

Manistee Turkey Ranch is a project of Joel Raddatz (with a little help from his friends!). Joel really likes birds. They are a lot of work and a lot of fun. The birds are beautiful, and they taste delicious. Visitors are welcome-- it's probably wise to call ahead of time-- 231-510 - 4022. The new address is 3075 S. County Line Rd., Manistee, MI 49660. We sell our birds mainly around the holidays. We will consider providing chicks too. We're going to focus mainly on the Red Bourbons, but will raise Great Whites if requested.
