887, Albert Landreth recognized that Wisconsin soil could produce superior quality peas. He began operating out of a small hotel on the shores of Lake Michigan in Manitowoc – the humble founding of Lakeside Foods. With increasing refined production, Lakeside invested in higher quality products. Close partnerships with their farmers allowed for constant improvements in planting schedules and provided incentive for the best crop the farmers could produce. Lakeside expanded their original focus on peas to include green beans, tomatoes, corn, and even sauerkraut. Today, the Manitowoc Plant proudly runs both a canning and freezing facility for green beans, wax beans, Italian beans, dry beans, carrots, potatoes and sauces. Our employees take great pride in personal and food safety, production efficiency and maintaining a teamwork environment. Our production season begin in June and ends in December. Happy 4th to all Manitowoc Plant employees. As we prepare for our season, everyone had to work today. Our GM, Janet DePirro made the day special by providing lunch for everyone. Homemade cookies and Rice Krispy bars too!!! The hard work and dedication that every employee contributes is much appreciated!!!!
