We’re adding some drain tile in at the home place. Drain tile can be a huge asset when managing and protecting the soil. Waterlogged soil can’t absorb any additional precipitation and so surface running and erosion begins. The idea of the tile is to remove excess saturation allowing the soil to take in and on the next moisture event.
When soils become over saturated, plant roots become stressed, animal traffic pounds and reshapes the surface and runoff erosion begins. Our goal is to only remove the excess through the soil profile and keep conditions more consistent while preparing for the ever increasing extreme weather events.
This tile ranges from 3’-4’ deep across the surface contour. A laser guided hydraulic system maintains a flowing sloped drain. This is some major HP and iron pulling/plowing/knifing in our drainage project.
