Let the drilling commence! Special thanks to Iowa Cover Crop for helping us design the “Good Doin’” forage blend. This annual mixture has been a great crop-rotation alternative, providing a variety of soil benefits and serving as a late-summer drought-insurance policy. The cattle should love this come mid-August!

Some fast-paced, eventful weeks recently here on the ranch: bulls have begun leaving for their new homes, field work and summer vaccine processing is well underway, heifers are synchronized and scheduled for breeding next week, and best of all, our first set of pairs have been turned out to pasture. A lot yet to be accomplished, but exciting times ahead nonetheless...
