Did you know that our myotonic goats follow the proverb, "prevention is worth a pound of cure?" This year was rainy. We had an unusual high worm load. Nevertheless, my goats took matters into their own hooves, so to speak. The herd tackled the juniper trees that for 20 years have been prospering in their pasture. Juniper, or what Texans like to call cedar, is known as a worm preventative. And, they reckoned, this was the year it was either them or the trees. Each goat had a sticky residue on their lips, not a pretty sight. However, I'm proud to report, it worked. Everyone looks sleek and sassy. And that "ring around the mouth" is gone. Once again, goat wisdom is an awesome thing to behold.
P.S. I should say that we wormed the goats several times not just leaving it to "Mother Nature."
