Perry and sons all started when Delphino Perry migrated to the United States from the Azores Islands of Portugal at the tender age of 16 to begin a new chapter in his family, farming. Delphino established a dairy and began farming to lay the foundation of what later would become George Perry and Sons, Inc. In 1963, the family decided to sell the dairy and direct 100% of their efforts to farming. I

n 1965 George expanded the family business and began buying and selling watermelons from local growers in order to fulfill the ever increasing demand for this tasty summertime treat. As the Perry family has grown so has the operation. Art and George Perry, Jr, along with the next generation of Perry’s have expanded the farming operation and strengthened the business, becoming one of the largest shippers and handlers of watermelons, pumpkins and squash in California.
