Oatmeal Sorghum Bread
Ingredients:
1 cup rolled 1.5 cup water - boiled
1/2 cup sorghum syrup
1/2 cup milk
3 Tbs butter melted
2 tsp salt
2 1/4 tsp yeast
5 1/4 cup flour
1. Add 1.5 cup boiling water to oats and let sit for 15 minutes.
2. Warm milk to 110 degrees F and add yeast plus 1 tsp of sorghum. Stir well and let sit for 10 min until foamy.
3. Add sorghum, butter, and salt to oats. Also add yeast mixture and combine.
4. Add flour gradually till soft. I ended up adding 5 1/4 cup of flour in all but may be more or less for you. Dough may be sticky.
5. Cover and let rise for one hour.
6. Cut in half and shape 2 bread loaves into 2 greased bread pans. Coat tops with a little water and sprinkle oats to stick (optional). Allow to rise 1 hour.
7. After 2nd rise, bake in a preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until golden.
8. Let cool and slice. Enjoy your bread!
